LOOK WHAT I MADE!!!

A nearly 2ft raptor stuffy with moveable arms and a voice box that roars! Took me around 1 month to complete, done mostly by hand, made of faux fur and minky with a gemstone necklace, scent-insert, and her roar is an eagle call.

I am so freaking proud of myself! 

Following the chaotic events of the first Jurassic World film, the park has no choice but to close down. However, rather than humanely destroy or abandon the park’s many dinosaurs 

what if the powers-at-be elected to put a special program in place – one which allowed old employees and even members of the public to voluntarily adopt the dinosaurs instead?

You could apply in person or online, and if you met the list of criteria (see below) you would be allowed to adopt up to five JW dinosaurs of your choosing. You would also be given a small monthly stipend, access to your own on-call JW vet, a variety of helpful enrichment items, and all the dietary supplements their dinosaur requires, including a steady supply of lysine.

Took me all of November, but I finally “hatched” a holiday-themed raptor! And unlike the last one, this one is UP FOR ADOPTION!!! Just in time for the gift-giving season, too ;P

Couple of things about Rudolph:

• He’s completely hand-sewn (I don’t yet own a machine, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for xmas)

• He’s made out of super soft minky and 100% polyester faux rabbit fur, and stuffed with Poly-fil

• His eyes are plastic safety-eyes

• He’s about the size of a small house-cat (see photo below of me holding him)

• He comes from a smoke-free, pet-free house

• He’s the 3rd raptor stuffy I’ve ever produced – so while he isn’t precisely perfect, he is one-of-a-kind and possessing of a pretty unique charm (at least in my opinion)

• While he doesn’t have a shiny red nose, he does come with a little red bow and acorn-bell (the Santa hat in the pictures is, I’m afraid, part of a rented costume and not included)

• He’s also got a sugary-sweet-scented inset from Build-A-Bear – so he smells quite festive!

• AND he’s got a VOICE BOX too! That way, if you give him a squeeze in just the right way, he responds with a cute little dinosaur chirp! (actually the call of a sandhill crane)

JUST BE AWARE that Rudolph’s current price is $75, but the shipping isn’t included so he might cost more depending on where he’s traveling to. Rudolph is also currently the only raptor up for adoption. But rest assured – I do have plans to put more ready-made raptors up for adoption in the future, provided I can find the time to “hatch” them. My goal is one raptor a month – again, provided the timing works out. ALSO – if you’d be interested in adopting a raptor in the future feel free to let me know. Interest motivates me a ton, you have no idea! :3

I am totally working on another little raptor plushie for Dinovember!!!

(Actually, I’ve been working on him since Nov 1st, but I decided not to post a day-to-day update since I’m sewing him completely by hand and it’s a fairly slow process.)

Anyway, I’ll be putting this one up for adoption once it’s done (probably / hopefully before Dec 1st – just in time for gift giving). So keep an eye out for my next post! 

This one is sort of fall-themed. He’s about the size of a small cat, and made out of minky and faux rabbit fur (with sharpie marker for the subtle stripes on the tail). Took me over a month to finish, but was well worth it. I love the way he turned out! Very mischievous-looking, very rascally. I worked extra hard on him. I gave him a little bow and acorn-bell, plus a lavender-scented insert from Build-A-Bear (so he’ll smell nice).

He even has a voice box. That way, if you give him a squeeze, he responds with a cute little dinosaur chirp! (actually the call of a sandhill crane)

Any ideas for what I ought to call him? And would anybody be interested in buying/adopting him, or others like him?

The Bones Of Dragons

Using the bones of long-buried dragon-like creatures, master sorcerer and noted necromancer John Hammond manages to resurrect living, breathing dinosaurs. Nearly three decades later, his stunning magical legacy lives on in the form of The Kingdom of Long Claw, a utopian society filled with dinosaurs, nearly all of which have been hypnotized into obedience by Hammond’s apprentice-turned-sucsessor, Henry Wu.

I used a modified version of this awesome pattern to build him. Took me over a month because I worked sparaodically (and also because life likes to interrupt me with random chaos... like, a lot...).

Although I’m aware of his flaws, I’m actually really happy with how he turned out – especially for a first try. Plus, now I know what (and what not) to do for the next one I make. And I will be making more, trust me.

Speaking of WILL – I named him after FBI criminal profiler Will Graham because I was binging NBCs Hannibal at the time I finished him. And like Everybody’s Favorite Hannibal Character, he’s small and wide-eyed and a little oddly put together but absolutely amazing nevertheless. 😊

Okay, so I came up with this idea for a Jurassic Park / Jurassic World AU fic . . .

“In The Way Of Dogs & Cheetahs” (Jurassic World AU):

Set some twenty years after the events of Jurassic Park, the dinosaur-themed luxury resort  has re-opened as Jurassic World. Only this time steps have been taken to ensure not only the public’s safety and happiness – but that of the genetically engineered dinosaurs as well. Advanced fences, shock collars, hormonal population-control treatments, enrichment activities, better diet, and pavlovian conditioning have all been implemented to help the dinosaurs behave safely around guests and staff. Even the deadly velociraptors that nearly destroyed the previous park have been rendered safe thanks to a revised breeding process – one which allowed them to keep their original, featherless appearances, but at a scaled-down level. 

Now, these newer, tamer, turkey-sized raptors are the highlight of Jurassic World, performing show tricks, hunting in front of live crowds, and even racing dirt-bikes ridden by high-paying guests. However, when Jurassic World’s star raptor – a third generation female named Kim  – begins to display tendencies alarmingly similar to depression, an experimental, scientifically-accurate Deinonychus named Randy is given the task of providing her with emotional support.

But what happens when super-intelligent Randy determines the cause of Kim’s psychological problems to be her stress-filled life at the park? Will he allow her to be subjected to the park’s most intense safety protocol – a brainwashing technique known only as Regulation – all for the sake of maintaining a steady profit? Or will he go against his own mental conditioning and help her escape Jurassic World?
