Fact: Light throughout the Underground World is provided by artificial suns made by the Snake artisans of the Radiance Layer with glowstone.Â
These artificial suns are powered by energy from refined Banandium Gems.
Bone Goombas do not appear to be undead Goombas, but rather blue Goombas, wearing bone masks.
The bone masks they wear may be the skulls of Goombrats, as they feature similar teeth and large, furrowed brows.
In Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, Bowser's Minions appear to form alliances with several other groups, such as the Octo-Army, Mandibug clan, Topman Tribe, Undergrunts and Li'l Brrs, while expanding Bowser's galactic empire.
In Super Mario Sunshine's Ricco Harbor, fishing boats can be seen resting on the docks. When Mario first arrives there, the boats are filled with Bloopers and Bloopads.
When Gooper Blooper and the other invading Bloopers are defeated, it seems that fishing resumes and the fishmonger's market opens.

Fact: Zingers are spiky, wasp-like insects that are part of the Kremling Krew.
In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest, Zinger larvae and pupae appear in their hives on Crocodile Isle. Zinger hives also appear in Donkey Konga 2.

The viruses featured in the Dr. Mario series appear to have originated from outer space. In the ending of Dr. Mario for the NES, a spaceship arrives and beams up the viruses.
In Dr. Luigi, the viruses arrive in a similar spaceship.
Fact: Flutters are the butterfly-like, mature form of Wigglers, sharing a Japanese name, "Hanachan", with them. Wigglers may become Flutters after eating a lot.
In Mario Power Tennis, Wiggler is able to temporarily transform into a Flutter during its defensive Power Shot.
In Super Mario Galaxy, it is implied that Rosalina was a princess who once lived in the Mushroom Kingdom before leaving home to help Luma find his mother.

Fact: The Black Sugar Gang is a group of pirates led by the cunning Captain Syrup.

Koopas like Bowser are able to breathe fire using an organ called the Flame Pipe.
Fire Breath seems to be a learned skill, as it appears that Bowser Jr. is not yet able to breathe fire in Mario Strikers Charged, but can breathe fire in other titles.
Fact: Cranky Kong, the grandfather of the current Donkey Kong who stars in Donkey Kong Country, is actually an aged version of the original Donkey Kong who fought Mario back in the Donkey Kong arcade game (1981) and Donkey Kong Game Boy game (1994).
