WIP for a storyboard from the second sequence I'm doing for the pilot. I'm not sure if I'm going to redraw over this, or tidy up the explosion and leave it as a photo.

Storyboard #1 is complete! Now onto the second, which has lots of external shots.Â
Aaargh, apparently Tumblr resized that image weirdly. You can see a full-sized version here
The first storyboard sequence is done! Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to get it up here, as it's longer than the 10-image limit for individual posts.
I finally got around to soldering the LOLShield to make Dr. Swan's face with, but as I was about to attach it to the Arduino I have, I realize I have the wrong size, and it won't fit.Â
So now I have to order an Arduino Duemilanove, so I can actually connect the thing.Â
On the plus side, that means I get to order more stuff from the Robot Shop, and buying from a place called "The Robot Shop" (robotshop.com) is pretty great.
Detail work on the Pilkington. The body is all done, so next I need to igure out the lighting.

Adding some detail to the Pilkington model. This one side is basically done; now I have to do the other side, and I suppose tidy up the bottom. The rear of the ship needs some ornamentation for the engines, as well.
It's looking pretty cool, I think.
This is the initial build of the Disney Bird of Prey. Hopefully the front of the ship is believable as a giant battering ram.Â
I'll get this puppy painted just as soon as I finish my spray booth, which *hopefully* won't take too long, as I have figured out, I believe, how to wire it correctly.
Whatever you say, Ernest Hemingway
Your midweek inspiration.
"The first draft of anything is shit" is a wonderful bit of truth by Mr. Hemingway; this isn't. The notion of the writer who has to be drunk or high to access his creativity or his art is offensive to me as a writer. Also, regarding Hemingway in particular, he drank to push away his demons, but given the way his life ended, that obviously didn't work.Â
Blogger Drone MK 2. I think this is a much nicer design, and will look appropriate when large swarms of them are moving around. Still haven't decided on a colour to use, though.
More storyboards! Only 11 left to colour for the first sequence. Then I can work on the second, which involves spaceships, and likely me making cardboard versions of all of the space ships, so that I can get proper photo reference so they look cool.

Storyboards are slow going, apparently.Â
This is possibly a Blogger Drone for the show.
In the future, bloggers are so ubiquitous that they're basically just mobile AIs that roam everywhere, taking pictures and interviewing people. They're like linkbaiting locusts, and there's almost literally no escape from them.
Most of their appearances on the show would be in swarms in the darkness of space. I'm not sure what colour they'll be, as a result.Â
This is what I'm currently thinking the Disney Bird of Prey piloted by Robot Kevin Smith will look like. I have a few pages of other designs, including it looking like Mickey Mouse's head, a set of cock and balls (accidentally), and the Epcot Center with missiles.Â
I like this one, at present.
Kevin Smith! If you happen to see this, please email me at [email protected] so I can give you my spiel about you being a guest on my forthcoming podcast as Robot Kevin Smith! Or go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-dhLkPu6KE to watch me beg for your time.
Nearly Halfway
I'm done colouring 17 of the 39 storyboards for the first sequence!
Making a TV show all by yourself is slow.
So I redid the body for Catarel, because the initial one was too blocky, and didn't look sufficiently like the concept art. I had hoped to use my new and saw to cut the foam, but the block I was using was too tall, so it wouldn't fit, and I didn't feel like cutting it in two, band sawing it, then gluing the two halves back together. So I went out and got a hot knife from Hot Wire Foam Factory (http://hotwirefoamfactory.com/-Crafters-Kits/). I've never used a hot knife before, but it was pretty handy. I had to be a bit zen with the incredibly slow but smooth cuts, however. I hacked chunks of foam away from the block (which was thicker than the knife was long, which added some time), and soon enough had a rough shape. The touch-ups were not bad, and when I was done with those I finished the shape with my palm sander. REALLY happy with the results of this second body: it looks exactly like the concept art, and actually looks decent in three dimensions. Next I have to buy more brushes to finish the sealing of Catarel. After that it'll be time to apply the plastic coat, and then she'll be more or less done!
