here comes robin buckley… awkward alpha extraordinaire… nancy is IMMEDIATELY not here to be friends, she’s not looking to get bossed around by someone who doesn’t know anything about her, just assuming she’ll do whatever they tell her to…

but then robin… doesn’t do that. robin listens, robin listens more to nancy that anyone else has ever done before… she respects nancy, makes her in charge when it matters most… sees everything that’s cool and important and admirable about her while still seeing her… because she is an omega, it’s a part of her,,, and it doesn’t have to be a bad one…

on the flip side alpha robin who is SO TIRED of everyone expecting her to be one way, of people looking at her like she’s some kind of freak for being a female alpha,,,, of people who ignore everything about her in favor of the one thing she can’t (and refuses) to change. she thinks nancy is the same way, prickly and focused as she is, but robin is incapable of being anything but herself (especially around pretty girls) and is surprised when nancy… softens….

robin who is immediately so smitten… an omega who doesn’t look at her with this expectation, like they’re waiting for her to do something stupid or wrong. instead nancy looks at her with a different kind of expectation, constantly waiting for what robin has to say next, not waiting for her to direct, but to share, honestly engrossed in whatever little rant she ends up on.

steve goes into heat one day at school and eddie finds him in the locker room, but steve jumps him and pins him to the floor with bruising strength, snarling in eddie’s face. eddie’s heart flutters in his chest, he whines and instinctively bares his throat to steve, something that any alpha should consider humiliating.

but steve’s growling quiets and he touches eddie’s neck, humming in approval, and it makes eddie melt into the floor. a typical alpha would’ve tried to overpower steve and forcibly mark him, yet eddie seemed content right where he was. steve leans closer and, to eddie’s astonishment, starts to purr.

this post was inspired by @baldyeosang's ateez omegaverse polls, and the 2025 ao3 omegaverse review, in which several of our boys made the top-50 lists for alphas and omegas. apologies if someone else has done this already; i am new to the fandom, but i thought it would be fun.

After seeing centreoflight's yearly ship analysis, I decided to look into the stats within just the Alpha/Beta/Omega Dynamic tag. I also compiled a list of which characters were most often tagged as an alpha or omega respectively.

I don’t think John would’ve looked down on him for being an omega, but I don’t think he would’ve accommodated him very much either. There definitely wasn’t a budget for nesting supplies; Dean would’ve had to steal cheap blankets and pillows from the motels they were staying at, and John would’ve been quick to throw them out if he needed more space in the trunk. He would’ve made sure Dean was safe during his heats, but I doubt Dean would’ve gotten more than a bottle of advil and a motel room for them. Dean definitely wouldn’t have brought up any questions he had about his body or instincts with John. That wasn’t a relationship where you could be vulnerable. John needed him to not be vulnerable, to act older than he was, to look after Sammy. Dean was expected to figure everything out by himself.

Bobby would’ve been better. He would’ve made sure Dean had nesting materials at his house, at the very least. Might’ve read a book or two on raising omegas. But he was still an alpha, and he had to avoid stepping on John’s toes by parenting Dean “too” much, and neither he nor Dean wanted to have any of those conversations. What would he have even told Dean anyways? He wasn’t an omega. He didn’t know what it was really like, what Dean was really going through. So Dean didn’t get much guidance from him either.

So Dean grew up with no omega paternal figure, or even an omega who was present enough in his life to consider a role model. The best he would’ve gotten were teachers he knew for a months at best and a few odd hunters John worked a case with, and those are pretty slim pickings. He probably would’ve modelled himself after characters he saw on TV. And he learned how to navigate his body, instincts, self-image, and relationships with alphas all by himself.
