She holds your hand as you pray. She searches the rocks at the beach for objects. She makes up stories about them. She has nightmares. She links your pinkies as you walk. She looks back at you and smiles even at the risk of being hit by the aunts.

One day when you're dancing, and she brushed her thumb against your arm, and you realize you're utterly, madly in love with her.

Your dad hurt her. You kill him.

Your characters are allowed to be bad people. Your story is allowed to have no moral lesson.yyour ending is allowed to be sad. The villain can win. The good person can do something unforgivable. The lovers can destroy each other. You are allowed to write the thing that no one asked for and everything that everyone told you doesn’t work and you are allowed to not explain yourself.

One- as OP said, your characters can be bad people, they can do bad things. There doesn't have to be a reason or a moral. You can make them bad if you want to. No other reason needed.

Two- it doesn't have to be good, it just needs to be written. On my last book i literally wrote the words "dumbest version" on the top of the page because I had seen some advice to do that. It changed everything. I stopped trying to make it perfect, I just tried to make it. Period. Full stop.

As reported by Russian news outlet Mediazona, a case was opened against the 13-year-old, whose details were withheld to protect his identity, after his classmates’ parents raised a complaint with police about the video. The content of the video is unknown, but it was alleged that it contained a symbol designated as “extremist”. Because under Russian law responsibility for administrative offences can only be held by people aged 16 or older, the boy’s case was transferred to a regional Juvenile Affairs Commission. Charging the boy under Russia’s ‘LGBT propaganda’ law, the Commission suggested that the boy be removed from his school and transferred to a “special education institute” where he will be “treated by psychologists.”

Ableism and transphobia are inseperable. Just like ableism was used to prop up bigotry throughout history, now it is being used to deny transgender people bodily autonomy the same way it is used to deny disabled people bodily autonomy. It's not a coincidence that so much of the rights transphobic rhetoric is focused on labelling us as "mentally ill". They don't think any disabled people, let alone mentally ill people should have independence or liberation.

A habitable, equal and prosperous 21st century is materially possible. The carbon budget allows it and history offers precedents at comparable scales: universal suffrage, the universalisation of healthcare and education, the halving of working hours and the sharp compression of inequality over the 20th century. Technical impossibility is not what is standing in the way, but rather the absence of a shared vision of social progress, at once concrete and radical. What it will take instead is political choice, and the hard work of coalition-building behind it.
