Silhouette

I took a twist on the silhouette in nature assignment due to not having someone to outline. I made a creative twist by using minerals and rocks within my silhouette to identify with the “heart” the “mind” and the “no no parts” (silhouette stone) so signify the commonly overused and abused parts of our body and how significant and special they are just like every other stone, rock, stick, or flower. All very important in life function and a person. The eyes display yellow dandelions that turn green in the cold months when they die. This can symbolize seasonal depression or (SAD) seasonal affective disorder and how everything seems so gloomy and grey in the winter yet blooms in to fruition in the spring.

Appreciate the grey so you can bloom too! 🤍

My arte polvera movement was created with trash and non-conventional materials. This week I decided to use natural and trash to create a 5:00 somewhere ideology highlighting our wastefulness when focused on fun.

Inspiration Piece: Hang Up 1966

This piece is inspired by the 1966 piece by Eva Hesse called “Hang Up”. I relate to hangups simplicity by making the typical lifestyle of student life a bit uncomfortable with sticky boys and materials in unusual placements. This technique is used to draw to the emphasis of my message within the piece and the “hang up” within student life. Self compassion and self care is often overlooked within many students busy schedules. It is however, very pivotal to the functioning and continued progress. The engine can’t run without care. #liveyourbestlife

I initially started the midterm with the pop culture moment and highlighted a social perspective.

My digital abstract was created by Instagram a very controversial app for many valid reasons.

My Version is monotone and grey dipicting a wary and eerie feeling to the piece. I forgot to move the paper clips for the photo so I’m going to call them piece additions connecting the thought of wires and technology controlling our world. (Pretty morbid right? ) I ended up dropping the brush creating a cool creation over the word “The” allowing me to interpret it with is this really our world? The World?

Perspective is very important within this piece which is why there is 3 photos. The lighting and perspective allow for different perceptions.

Furthermore, this leaves me to wonder as a promoter of social media health and balance, am I doing more harm then good? Is social media really a good place? It’s technology truly helpful? Some questions I’m sure we’ve all asked but, I don’t know. I just try to see it as we can’t really control too much of our environment daily but what we can we can and if that’s a major social and typical way to communicate why not take the negative and turn it into a positive? Allow the understanding of the fact that there will always be “true” and “false”, “good” or “bad”, “trendy or out of fashion”, and “shameful or uplifting” but to see the beauty in it all (the diversity) and make decisions based off you! Not a trend not a product or healthcare remedy. Just you. Existing beautifully 🤍 in a evolving world.

The black widow symbolizes myself as I know I can occasionally be seen as a rigid, hyper masculine, independent woman. Working on this.

The cherry pits symbolize a ladder to me and climbing to the top of the rose colored glasses. 🌹🤍

I chose to create a collage that makes me feel hopeful, inspired, optimistic, and at peace. Notice the word inspire in the new magazine clipping. I decided to add a twist with physical art and web art editing. Creating this piece.
