celeste is a bit taken aback by theo’s latching but is grateful for it nonetheless. theo always seemed to provide comfort in the WORST possible scenarios and feeling miserable all night at a valentine’s day party was definitely on that list. she listens intently, her heart sinking when theo rants. at least theo’s failed date ended up turning into a blessing for celeste. plus, she knew theo could do better. “ah, a man’s ego. so big yet so fragile. the paradox no one asked for and yet…everyone has to deal with it. it’s a plague.” she laughs, looking around to make sure theo’s date wasn’t anywhere in earshot. imagine talking shit when he’s just on his way back to his date - how embarrassing. “i promise i won’t. mainly because this love fest is making me nauseous but also because i don’t want you to go to jail. then i’d have to go, too. we’d be like flaca and maritza from orange is the new black.” she reaches for theo’s hand, trying her best to offer her best friend some comfort in return. “the only condition is that we have to leave shit-faced. i’ve downed like three cups of rosé and i’m not nearly drunk enough to look at anymore heart shaped bullshit. love sucks.”  

“god, truly!” theo exclaims in reply, and she is once again vividly reminded of why celeste is one of her oldest friends. she obviously understood her in a way very few could. it was beautiful. theo slumps in some amount of relief at celeste’s promise, moving to hug her friend with a heartfelt pout that generally only made an appearance after a few drinks. “celeste. i love you.” theo gives celeste another warm squeeze before she’s pulling away and admitting, “even though i still haven’t finished that show and so i really have like no idea what you’re talking about. i mean, keep trying to get into it, but god piper is so annoying, and it would be easier to bear it if i could just fast forward her bits but she’s the main character which was a glaring mistake on the writer’s part, almost every other character is more interesting. it’s a real problem.” theo doesn’t hesitate to interlace her fingers with celeste’s as the brunette takes her hand, drinking in the bodily contact happily. there weren’t a lot of people that theo liked touching her, but cel was one of the few that was always allowed, and she always would be. “okay, i would have been able to tell you that any other day of the year.” theo replies with a pointed arch of her brow, “love is a neurological con job, and i’ve been saying as much since i was seven but...” theo tries to debate the pros and cons of getting royally fucked up at a school function, but in the end having fun with celeste easily wins. “fuck it, deal. i’ve had three glasses of champagne, so i’m already halfway there. let’s get drunk!” theo raises her free hand in some amount of excitement before she’s lowering it to point at celeste firmly as she adds, “but if i end up crying or dancing on a table or something, you have to promise me that if you see anyone recording it you will tackle them to the ground. i don’t want any blackmail material floating around.”

he wasn’t sure if he’d ever seen her at a loss for words . retorts & sharp quips seemed to spring to her lips faster than most others he knew , it was odd to see her pause as she tried to pluck the right word for whatever it was that he seemed to know he had . a brow raised in waiting , lips tugging into a smirk he knew she was sure to roll her eyes at , before finally she picked . options of which made him break into an amused grin , “ attention seeking habits . that’s a new one , i’ve never been accused of being an attention seeker before — i guess you must just bring it out in me . monkey see , monkey do & all that , right ? ” tommy watched as the expression on her features shifted from irritated to bewildered horror as words that could pass as a compliment had fallen from his lips . granted , compliments weren’t exactly in the whole repertoire they’d fallen into . but he did believe she possessed FAR more braincells than the guys he saw her around with combined but apparently & for the most part , unlike popular belief , tommy didn’t hate theo — quite the opposite really . shoulders shrugged effortlessly , “ i’m not playing at anything . but if it helps at all to get over me managing to find something to compliment you on , i did just say you had more braincells than him . i didn’t say how many i thought you had . ” he paused as pretending to study her features & head intently from where he stood , “ you gotta have like a solid 4 though i reckon . ” lips broke into a provoking smirk once more as his hands slipped into his pockets & weight shifting back a little to settle upon his heels before he let out a laugh . full offence — she wasn’t wrong . there were a SELECT few that could more than pass as pretty that had a way of convincing him to do something he wasn’t into . but really , that had more to do with things other than looks if he was honest . “ says the girl that agreed to go to this thing with some guy that can only talk about himself because he’s good looking & rich . ”

“oi.” theo replies immediately, manicured finger held up and brow arched as she stops tommy right there, because that comparison is probably up there with one of the most offensive things she’s ever heard. his clumsy little attempts at attention grabbing being compared to her eye catching presence? absolutely not. “i do not seek attention. i simply get it. it is given to me, because i deserve it. there’s a difference.” theo straightens her spine almost haughtily as she continues to gesture with her glass despite the champagne sloshing dangerously in it. “do aubrey hepburn, michelle obama or amal clooney seek attention? no, it is given to them because they simply command it with their presence, as i do every damn day, thank you very much.” theo’s gaze on tommy continues to edge firmly on distrustful despite his reassurances, that is until her expression is twisting into something mortally offended as he finishes his sentence. despite the fact that she demanded he stop complimenting her, the insult is still annoying. honestly the only way for her to win is if he were to stop talking to her completely, but she’s somehow lost any hope of that happening any time soon. “okay, wipe that smirk off your face, even if that were somehow true, that is still three more than you can ever hope to have in that hollow little head of yours, connelley. i’m sure that poor thing is lonely in there. it’s dark, and cold, and cobwebs decorate the depths of it. the poor cell’s cries of anguish at every one of your idiotic actions echo off the walls of your skull, that projection of sound creates a domino effect similar to the one’s displayed in slapstick children’s cartoons, and that,” theo’s teeth are bared with the emphasis of the word, brows arched as she finishes, “is the only way you produce a coherent thought.” theo’s sharp glare loses none of it’s heat as she moves to down what’s left of her champagne. she regrets the decision almost immediately when she looks down at her empty glass and realizes she’ll have to go through the rest of this conversation without the social lubricant of alcohol. god, this entire night is turning out to be a mistake. theo wrinkles her nose at tommy’s jab, looking at him sharply mostly because while he isn’t wrong, she doesn’t like it. “okay, no, for your information i was completely planning on going to this event anyways. his pretty face convinced me of nothing, so we are not the same. nice try though.” 

a choked scoff followed the roll of eyes & biting rebuttal , “ cute . ” the word brought a large grin to his lips , “ OUCH . if i thought that i was cute to begin with , my ego would in COMPLETE tatters right about now . but thankfully — ” words rolled to an end as his hand came to rest lightly upon his chest . “ i never did . ” slowly , the hand upon his chest slipped to settle once more at his side . listening to her , watching her turn from him — flute rising to her lips before ultimately finding its way back down once more to allow her to turn her burning gaze upon him once more . it nearly sounded as if she was trying to not only convince him that this benji was in fact better company than he was but also herself . hands rose innocently in mock surrender ,  “ hey . you don’t have to explain to me why you picked the guy you did . it truly sounds like he’d be RIVETING company . ” another bout of sarcasm . but as he continued , it faded from his words ,“ at least , he would be if you were someone that ALSO have a total of two brain cells . ” watching her features change , a single brow lifted , an action that was quickly followed with a shrug of a single shoulder . “ not a valentine’s day kind of guy . at least not this kind of valentine’s day . ” his head jerked out , gesturing towards the over the top display of hearts & pink . “ jacks convinced me to come . don’t ask me how . i’m still trying to figure that out myself . ”

theo snorts in disbelief at tommy’s antics, eyes rolling for the umpteenth time. “please. like i’m supposed to believe you don’t find yourself completely adorable with all of your,” theo gestures to all of tommy with a wrinkle of her nose, but the small amount of champagne she did consume must be going to her head because her words are failing her. “...antics, and jokes, and annoying little attention seeking habits.” theo finally decides to take a sip from her glass, but that only results in her having a mouthful of champagne when she makes a face at tommy’s comment about benji. yes, benji was as interesting as a wet sponge, but theo suddenly felt the need to defend him, mostly because the concept of agreeing with tommy was so repulsive that she simply had to be on the opposing side, no matter what it was. but she’s quickly distracted from having to defend her horrible date as he continues, swallowing her champagne as her irritated expression morphs into one of bewildered horror. “...did you just compliment me?” theo stares at tommy for a moment in confusion, brows furrowed tightly before she’s shaking her head and saying, “don’t do that, that’s weird. you’ve made it weird. never do that again, i...” theo’s expression shifts into something almost firm as she uncurls a finger from her champagne glass to point to tommy with it, firmly saying, “i don’t know what you’re playing at, but stop.” theo allows her hand to lower slowly, gaze still slightly suspicious on tommy before she’s registering his following words and her eyes are lighting up in some level of understanding. “oh. well, that makes sense.” theo is quiet for a moment before she simply shrugs at tommy and explains, “full offense, but your entire gender is pretty weak to anything pretty. against jacqueline you stood absolutely no chance.” 

Theo spots him purely by chance, but the moment she does, well, it’s hard to resist the urge to go over to him. Which isn’t unusual of course, Theo has always had a hard time leaving Julian alone, and today at this particular event where she’s avoiding her irritating date like the plague, irritating someone else sounds particularly appealing. “Kinney!” Theo greets brightly before Julian can even think about possibly escaping, flashing him a bright smile. “I’m surprised you’re here. I thought you would be at home in your little bat cave searching the deep web or something. Or you know, playing mindcraft with twelve year olds.” Theo takes a sip from the flute of champagne in her hand, humming as she swallows for a moment before she’s arching a brow and almost mockingly asking, “Did you lose a bet? Or did finally tell you that if you didn’t get outside and actually have some real fun you might die?” Theo blinks and brightens as something occurs to her, suddenly leaning into Julian with interest, “Oh, did you come here with a date? Who is it? Where is she? Let me see!” 

her retort instantly brought a curve to his lips as a soundless chuckle shook his shoulders , his head shaking a little as his line of sight dropped to the floor for a quick second before it raises once more. “ right . sorry , i forgot that your presence is a gift everyone should cherish . ” the sarcasm in his voice dripped through every word , but he shot a quick a quick amused smirk in her direction . but it wasn’t long before brows rose & eyes widened as a show of false disbelief washed over his features as her attention turned away from the crowd & towards him for a moment , “ someone more annoying than ME ? ” a long audible exhaled breath left his lips . “ now THAT is an impossible feat . don’t know if i should be offended i’m actually replaceable or to go congratulate the guy on out doing himself . ” his attention floated across the room , jumping from male features to male features as if he knew exactly who this person in question was & was capable of pulling them out of the crowd . “ who is he ? ”

theo’s eyes narrow at tommy’s smirk, her glare sharp as she says, “it is, asshole. so cut the sarcasm, you’re not nearly as cute as you think you are.” theo can only roll her eyes at tommy’s theatrics, poking her tongue into her cheek with her annoyance for a moment before she’s moving to glare at him once again. “his name is benji caley, he’s a business major, incredibly wealthy, incredibly handsome, and correction, nowhere near as annoying as you. my mistake. i had an unfortunate lapse in judgement.” theo moves to take a sip from her champagne flute, but is so irritated that she pulls the glass from her lips almost as soon as it touches them, gesturing annoyedly with it as she says, “sure benji might only be able to talk about himself and have a total of two brain cells, but you still take the cake and hold first place, so congratulations connelley.” theo glances behind tommy pointedly, using her index finger to gesture vaguely at the area behind him as she says, “you can find your prize over there, far away from me. or actually straight out the doors, down the street-- honestly,” theo’s face scrunches up in bewilderment, “what are you even doing here? full offense, but you don’t strike me as a valentine’s day kind of guy.”

theo thinks they’re gross when coming from like lovey dovey couples. like she’s the type to make a face or gag when no one is looking, but she does use them a lot when it comes to her friends. catch theo calling all her friends ‘babe’, ‘baby’, or ‘angel’, even occasionally ‘sexy’ or ‘hot stuff’! theo is here for platonic pet names all day. that said romantically, i feel like skjdk she generally hasn’t been into it, but she’s also never like genuinely really liked someone she’d dated so! that’s subject to change.

omg theo is less than deon for sure. i’d say like 10-12. like theo hasn’t slept with all the guys she’s blackmailed and before that she was like very picky unless she was drunk, like she is still very picky unless she’s drunk. she’s less picky when it comes to girls though but still. i think it’s about a dozen for theo honestly, but lord knows her body count is gonna go up.

oh theo is really good at it even if she doesn’t seem like it like sdkskj honestly theo only really tends to flirt when she wants something because i don’t think she’s had a genuine crush since like high school and even then it might have been more of a hunger for the guy’s status and such than anything else, or the girl’s beauty yk. but that said theo is one for physical touch when flirting, she will touch you or look up at you through her eyelashes, or bat them you know. a lot of compliments and laughing at jokes that aren’t really even funny. a few suggestive looks. she gets the job done. but i feel like if theo isn’t like flirting with aims of like reaching a goal (aka blackmailing a guy and draining him of his money) i feel like she’d tease someone when flirting, like she’d do it without really even noticing it.
