A stranger in passing
Wendy was no longer worried about this stranger being the shifter she was avoiding.  She would have been attacked or immobilized with a spell by now and certainly wouldnât be asked so questions regarding who she was.  One last thing needed to be known before she could trust this stranger. Well, as much as you could trust a stranger that is.
She murmured quietly almost to herself âSomething small, something small.. Oh Perfect!â Wendy snatched a decorative candle from the table and snapped her fingers.
Maleficent raised her eyebrows. "A wielder of magic," she said quietly, "but one who lives longer than any human." She nodded. "Intriguing. Easy to...disguise." Maleficent had spent decades disguising the peculiar shade of her skin, the bizarre angles of her face, the point of her ears...
The dark fae were not so easily recognizable now, but of course, who knew whence this superhuman sorceress originated. Maleficent turned her head to one side in case of unwitting passers-by and allowed her face to take its natural shape, her skin its natural hue, just for a moment. And oh, it felt glorious.
Gerri watched the other woman as she took a few steps towards her. She moved with a certain elegance that intrigued the vampire. âHuh. Well, I suppose if you address me by my nameâ I think that would be the easiest way. And if you knew where to find me, I am certain you already know that as well, do you not?â she asked with a slight tilt of her head.
"Curiosity." the vampire repeated and nodded, pursing her lips as she looked down at her slender hands that were still packing the books and papers in her bag. "I would suggest to be careful where your curiosity takes you, sometimes one might not respond too well to it."
"However, you may accompany me on my way outside. There is no reason for me to tell you about my real nature if I am not sure you will use it against me." In a soft motion, she walked past the other woman, her arm brushing just slightly against hers. The truth was, the last thing she cared about was if the woman used the information against her. Over the centuries she had learned how to survive, she had faced creatures of all kindâ and some of them had tried to kill her. Yet she had always survivedâ and not only survived, but defeated her opponents. And still, if this woman wanted to know more about Gerri, why not find out more about her as well? After all, information was always the most powerful weapon.
"Interesting." Maleficent continued to advance upon the stranger, intrigued. "Professor Dandridge, then?" she indicated the piece of paper taped to the outside door of the classroom. "It isn't a pseudonym?" Maleficent had never met another person with her name, and she found all similar names (Millicent, Mallory, Melanie) distasteful at best. She'd also never had a last name. She was from a time when people were "of" their families or their kingdoms. She had taken many pseudonyms over time, but when possible, she avoided giving any name at all.
"Yes," she continued, "I am well aware of what excessive curiosity begets." She did not explain the way her curiosity took hold of her, the way it plagued her until she could not eat or sleep or breathe until she had the answers she sought. "But I am also wary of ignorance as an alternative."
Maleficent let out a small huff of a chuckle. What ambitions had she now? There had been a time when she would use anything against anyone, when she would turn any interaction into a battle, to assert her power and her freedom. But now? So long as Professor Gerri Dandridge caused no trouble for Maleficent, Maleficent would return the favour.
"As you wish," she replied, and followed Professor Dandridge where she led.

But what if you got an uncontrollable violent urge to use your horns as a weapon? Wait, better question, if it came down to a physical combat would you use your horns to inflict damage?
"An uncontrollableâlet me stop you there. I have never experienced an urge I was unable to control.â
"In the heat of battle, one utilizes all that is at oneâs disposal. While I cannot imagine a circumstance in which the horns on my headdress would be necessary for anything but their aesthetic, if that were the case, I certainly would not abstain."
A stranger in passing
Now Wendy panicked. People never take that expression seriously. Who ever she was dealing with was obviously not of the mundane world. Or at least had a knowledge of things magical and occult. "Exactly that." she said with a playful face and without thinking. Her mouth always got her into trouble. Why would she expect any different now? It was a good thing she had an uncanny knack for convincing others that her blatant truth was only a joke. She thought finding another witch would be terribly exiting, if in fact the stranger was a witch; she could have just as easily found the very person who was trying to harm her. She looked around to see if others were eavesdropping, and when satisfied there was no one within earshot she crossed her arms and whispered "Who are you?"
Exactly that? Maleficent straightened her posture. Now she was getting somewhere. "I make it a point never to reveal more than I know," she replied. "Supposing you were to tell me who you are..." she quirked one eyebrow "...or perhaps, more pressing, what you are, then I might be inclined to share such information about myself."
Her gaze finally lifted up as she was addressed by her title, a small smile pulling at the corner of her lips as she took sight on who had come before her. âYou are never one to disturb me, Maleficent,â she assured, speaking nothing but the truth. âYou wouldnât have come to talk to me if you hadnât deem it important.â
"Ah, but importance varies greatly with perspective," Maleficent replied. She traveled far and wide in pursuit of knowledge, and surely the woman known as the Witch-Queen must possess a great deal of that, but Maleficent had little to offer in return but for her magical skill.Â
"If I may ask, Majesty, why is it you welcome me?" The question had been troubling her since she arrived. She was never welcomed, anywhere. She'd become so accustomed to being unwelcome that to be treated with something akin to friendliness rendered her overwhelmingly suspicious. "Most who have heard my name either fear or loathe me. Often both."
She was looking down as the other person spoke, lost in her thoughts. The voice had caught her by surprise, even if she didnât lift her gaze. âIâm sorry, what did you just say?â
"I beg your pardon, Your Majesty," said Maleficent with a small bow of her head. "I did not mean to disturb you. Nothing of any importance, I assure you." She was only passing through, really. Avoiding her home that was no more.
Gerriâs smirk grew a little bit wider. âPlease. You donât have to be that formal around me.â she informed her with a nod of her head, slowly starting to pack her things so she would be able to call it a day.
Though the other womanâs next words made her tilt her head at her. âHuh. Is that so.â Noticing that she averted her eyes, she let her own eyes roam over the other womanâs features for a moment. âAnd may I inquire why you wanted to find me?â
"Don't I?" Maleficent wondered, taking a step into the room. "Aside from Professor, I know nothing by which to address you." It was a bit forward of her, certainly, but she was a highly reactionary person by nature. She found the stranger's words rather forward, and responded in kind.
She saw no reason to dissemble any further. She'd made it clear by her presence that there was something she wanted--perhaps if she got her answer, she could put this matter behind her without a couple of decades of lost sleep. "I fear I am often ruled by my curiosity," she said. "You're not a mortal--I can sense that, but I don't know what you are."
What are you? seemed a rather callous question, though, and Maleficent quickly sought better phrasing. "As a fellow non-human in this increasingly human-ridden world we inhabit, I was merely overcome by curiosity as to your true nature."

Turning around when she heard the voice she had already heard once before, Gerri raised her eyebrows in surprise. She hadnât expected to see her again so soon. Actually, she hadnât expected to see her at all. And yet, here she was, at the university Gerri currently gave ger lectures. âProfessor, actually.â she replied with a small smirk. âHow did you find me?â
"I do beg your pardon, Professor," Maleficent replied with a small bow of her head. She was only faintly aware of the significance of the title--enough to gather that her error had been one of misinterpreting rank or prestige. A far less grievous error now than it had been in the past.
"Let us say that I have a great deal of experience with finding people," she continued, and averted her eyes. "Particularly those who don't wish to be found."
"You're a teacher?"
Maleficent had never quite kicked the nasty habit of stalking people from whom she wanted information. As the world progressed and she remained much the same, hiding in the shadows of trees became hiding in hallways and lurking around corners, and the overall effect was considerably creepier on her part. When the mysterious woman she'd met on the street recently looked up from her podium, Maleficent felt compelled to step into the doorway and reveal herself.
Have you ever just wanted to skewer Aurora like a ram with your horns?
"I am not an animal. Iâll have you know that I resent the implication."
"If youâd like to discuss barbarism, perhaps you ought to speak with one of my underlings. I resolve my issues by more sophisticated means."
Best fairy ever
"Are you quite certain of that? There are an awful lot of them, you know. And most of them would disagree with you."
//blaaah, yay for unexpected hiatuses! I have precious little activity on this account. Would anyone like to plot with Mal, or for me to make you a starter?

I am not afraid. Then come out. Then you will be afraid.
Into The Shadows || Maleficent & Vanessa
Vanessa didnât get lost. Nor did Ursula, but her she was in this dark forest, sky as black as night, and it looked like a thunderstorm was coming. Goodness, she despised business partners. They never kept their end of the bargain, even after she sent a particularly menacing threat. They still sent her on a wild chase to find them⌠which normally leaded her to nowhere.Â
The witch tumbled over a tree root, making her curse at herself as she carefully pulled herself up. She wouldâve stopped, but there was no telling what lurked in the darkness⌠and she wasnât willing to risk it.
Maleficent halted at the sound of footsteps. The sound of blundering--of someone whose footfalls were uncertain in the dark woods--piqued her interest, and she followed them to their source.
Maleficent's eyes were made for such darkness. She could clearly tell that the trespasser was a woman, and she could sense that the woman was not as human as she appeared.
"Do you require some assistance, Milady?" she asked from her spot, concealed by trees, though it was likely too dark for the woman to get a clear look at her, anyway. Her tone was not unkind, but there was a natural quality in her voice that tended to put people on edge. "These are dangerous woods, you know."
