She made her way through the doors of Daxalab, glancing around for any sign of anyone roaming. The halls were empty, just like she had hoped them to be whenever she entered. The teenager was a bit grateful for her wish being granted because she might have gotten kicked out if someone working here were to see her late at night, except for Dave, of course. He's the one who invited her in! She could explain that the man told her she could come into the building if she wanted to at any time, but they might not believe her words, or they would ask Dave for confirmation. There's a possibility he would get into trouble because of her too, which would make her feel awful since this is his job and she's kind of intruding despite the warm welcoming from him. Well, there's no need to worry about that, right? That's not happening and probably won't happen, she thinks. Actually, Willow has never been inside of Daxalab before until now, so she's unsure if it's only Dave working the night shift or other people are here.
Didn't he have a friend alongside him?
What was his name again...?
Wasn't it Matteo or something?
That does not help with the stalker accusations Dave threw at her-
But anyway, she should get a move on just in case there are other people here. If there are, they most likely wouldn't take too kindly with her having a baseball bat or straight-up looking like a rebel. Or maybe they would understand? Who knows. She's not going to stand still and find out herself; that's for sure. She honestly expected Dave to come greet her, if he even saw her on the cameras that is, but guess not. So, Willow began on her way to find where Dave is currently located inside of this building. She treaded carefully through the halls while making sure to keep her guard up. The girl slid the bat off of her shoulders and held onto it with a firm grip. "...Dave?" She softly called out. She paused momentarily and looked around with a worried expression, feeling a little paranoid and uneasy. She's gotten used to the silence of her everyday life, but this just felt wrong.
Willow tried ignoring the anxious feeling and continued walking. It couldn't be this hard to find a singular guy! Man... If she's going to be wasting her time trying to find him than she's better not trying to- To be honest, she's not wasting any time of her life searching for Dave. She has nothing else better to do right now, so... It doesn't matter all that much to her. At least she's getting some walking in. She eventually came across an elevator, looking it up and down like it was some sort of unknown entity. She hated taking elevators, but she'll take it this one time since there doesn't appear to be any stairs. If there are, she just wants to find Dave faster. Willow pressed down on the button that opened the elevator doors and stepped through. Luckily for Willow, there seems to be only two floors, so she pushed the button that led to the other floor she's not on. He must be on that floor... unless he's not.
Dave finds himself on land. His eyes, stung with salt, twitched involuntarily. He collapses, rolls onto his back and takes a very deep breath. A dark shadow passed over him. Dave covered his eyes from the sun. A dark silhouette of a whale spirals down through high clouds. Larger. Closer.
"I'm dead.", he says. "I'm actually fucking dead."
The whale hangs its enormous body in the sky, weightless as dandelion fluff. The whale's fins gently stir the air. Its flukes rise and fall. A geyser of seawater issues from the whale's blowhole, raining a fine, salty mist upon Dave.
"Not dead, Not yet, I'm afraid."
Dave. What did you bring me, Dave? What did you bring me?
"I don't have anything..", Dave croaks.
Check your pockets, please.
"Great, i'm being mugged by a flying fish.."
In the right pocket of his drenched jeans he finds a bottle of Somalcya. He looked up dubiously at the whale.
"It's just a bottle of Somalcya. Sleeping pills."
"You... You want my sleeping pills?", he asked as he held the bottle up to the whale.
"I'm sorry, my hands are so... Fucking... slick-"
The lid pops free. The pills take flight, rising from the little orange bottle like bubbles. The whale opens its vast mouth, baleen gleaming.
