Being in a relationship with the most unpredictable of the Salvatore brothers brings many surprises — some good and some not so much. Damon's complicated behavior is even more pronounced around you, even though he tries to "behave," so to speak.

You can keep Damon's murderous tendencies in check to a certain extent, but in the end, it's his nature and who he is, and that can't be changed so easily, if at all. He wants you to accept him, to love him for who he is, not to try to change him. Damon will resent you if you do, and that never ends well.

Damon is a caring boyfriend, even. He tries to be as attentive and loving as possible with you, even though his murderous impulses are still there and will never go away. He's a vampire, after all. And a vampire who enjoys killing, a sadist.

He always notices when you want something, even if you don't say it, and the next day he'll show up with the thing you stared at for five seconds.

Spontaneous trips are a common habit for you as a couple. Sometimes, Damon will simply put you in his car and drive away in silence, with some '80s music playing, as you leave Mystic Falls for somewhere else. It's moments like these that truly show Damon loves you, even without having to say it in words.

Damon has his moments of insecurity, and you're always the one to help him, reminding him that you're his, that you love him, and that you won't leave him. These conversations usually end in sex, but that's because it's a very common way for you to reconcile. Damon is much more into physical touch, like kissing, hugging, and sex, than words, so it's a form of love too.
