A chuckle. “Fear you?” It was unknown whether this was really his past self, or simply a hallucination-Though, probably the latter-, but, either way, it would be the current Master confronting his past. “That is the most ridiculous thing to claim, you who gave into the drums, you who were used by the Time Lords. You have the unmitigated gall to still refer to yourself as The Master? What are you now compared to what you used to be?”

The Master’s eyes narrowed at the other, contemplating as to if this was a past face he was confronting or a future one, either way he was despising the words seeping from the other’s lips, muscles tensing at his sides. "I am the same-though much worse then any generation before. Worse then you”

It was indeed a past face. The last natural incarnation of his first regeneration cycle, back before the last Time War. "Oh, I would agree, though, I'm not sure it is the kind of worse you would like. Don't you remember, back when the Doctor was serving UNIT, and we had first set our sights on Earth? We smothered them with living plastic, we brought their sea vessels down into the murky, we killed them with their very own fears. But, now look at you, having finally fallen victim to the drums. You're not sure of anything anymore really, are you? You're not as level headed as before, and you certainly cannot devise grand plans as easily as you used to. Not with those drums beating louder, and louder still..."

A chuckle. "Fear you?" "As much as it may pain me to say it, I do owe him my life. If it had not been for him, my consciousness would have faded into nothing. Is this such an unimaginable future for you? A life with the Doctor?"

"In this manner, yes. I have offered to rule with him, time and again. We were friends when we were younger, and ,yet, he still has had the unbelievable gall to reject my offers time and again. I will either rule with my dearest and oldest friend, or without him. I will not become his puppet, for him to use whenever he feels like it. Now, where is the console room?”

The android was silent for a few seconds. He had forgotten just how fiery he used to be. He had let himself be tamed far too much. “This way,” he conceded, heading out of the room they were in and down the corridor.

The Master nods, and follows his alternate future self through the TARDIS, but, silently pulls out his TCE, just incase he had to use it, should his other self attempt any trickery. After all, he doubted the Doctor let this version of him carry a TCE, nor anticipated the possibility of a TCE being used on the android Master.

He gave a small shrug. “I can’t say. On one hand, I am confined to this ship. I draw my power from it which keeps this body going. Some days it does feel like a prison. Yet on the other hand, he does treat me as his friend.”

"It sounds to me more like you are his puppet. We do as we see fit to others. It is not the other way around…” He seemed to be fuming, barely managing to control himself. “I cannot bear to see this indignity. Where is the console room, I must be returned to my timeline at once!”

"As much as it may pain me to say it, I do owe him my life. If it had not been for him, my consciousness would have faded into nothing. Is this such an unimaginable future for you? A life with the Doctor?"

The Master gave a smirk. He’d always been so clever. “To make a long story short, far into your future I made a mistake while trying to steal more regenerations and the body died, but my consciousness remained. The Doctor fashioned this metal body for me.”

The Master was silent. If his alternate future counterpart still had the sense of touch, he might feel a strong chill in the air. And, then, he inhales deepy, and finally asks. “The Doctor made this body for you…? The Doctor did? Oh, and, I don’t suppose he just did this out of the goodness of his heart, or that our old friendship really mattered that much to him…”

"Time is a very fluid thing, my counterpart, and Time Lords can turn out over a hundred billion different ways. It cannot be guaranteed that yours’ is the path I’ll go. Now…Perhaps you might wish to tell me why you’re an android? And, don’t deny it. While your body seems realistic enough, we both know that we have seen and created enough artificial beings by now to know the difference, Autons and various others."
