Not TOT, but I do try to play other mobile otome as much as I can.
I've been seeing the Wannabe Challenge ads lately and obviously, one particular ad had me downloading the game in a heartbeat. ಠ∀ಠ
Tried it and the art was very lovable. I did enjoy playing it as it gave me Fashion Fantasy vibes and Mr Love Dream Date/Mr Love Queen's Choice.
Now, it has its charms and the story seems interesting enough (reminded me of the k-drama, Goblin).
The game itself can be played without spending but here's where the game becomes a huge turn off: gigantic huge pay wall.
I don't particularly mind going a bit P2P, but if it feels like it forces me to go full P2P instead of a healthy balance with F2P, then we're going to have a serious problem.
I'm not new to the gacha system and my RNG sucks but not to the point I'd be pulling my hairs out, but this game, after spending some dias, has terrible rates. Spending for 30 - 40 pulls never netted me any SSR even under the rate up banner.
The wannapass is also not as rewarding even with a cheap price tag compared to other games with a battle pass system. You can completely ignore it, tbh. If you go F2P, you need to farm 2 or 3 levels to get a reward unlike buying the pass where each level rewards you with something. Totally not worth the trouble.
The event is also frustraing to do at some point. I thought opening the event for a particular guy would allow me to play his story and work to get fragments eventually leading you to get his event SSR, but turns out you need to buy the required item to buy the fragments.
At this point, I just proceeded to ignore the event and just focus on the main story. But, it was another disappointment when the camera/lense aspect of the game had let me down (again). You need a particular type of camera to ace the challenges and you can buy the cameras if you opened up the Practice Shoot feature, afaicr. Even that turned out to be disappointing: it's not as rewarding as I thought it would be and if I want a better camera, I'm going to have to buy the currency for it and that does come in a hefty price tag. So, that didn't go so well as I hoped it would and just tried to grind my way through the challeneges: leveling up my cards and feeling so exhausted that I didn't have the time to appreciate the unfolding story.
Now, I'm not a total snob as to completely not recommend this game, but if you're into grinding so much then by all means you can try this game. I kinda like the Instagram-ish aspect of Wannabe - posting, gathering followers, leaving comments - I dig that. That was enjoyable. But, seriously, all games are subjective and I just find this too exhausting to play and unfortunately, I had to stop before I run my wallet dry.
PS: I bought another set of diamonds to see if I can have a successful pull before quitting, and unfortunately, that was a bust. ಥ‿ಥ
