The Lyne Code

I won’t load you up with too much history, but let’s just say if you’re a war history buff, this place will blow you away.  If I’m not mistaken, the observation towers are the few remaining towers in the US from that era.  We climbed our way to the top of one of them and you could see everything from up there.  I almost died on the way up, but it was totally worth it.

The grounds leading to the Museum had all of these huge military gun replicas that were nothing short of crazy cool.  These are just a few pics, but there were plenty more big guns out there. I mean I can’t hardly do it justice, other than to say this is a must see if you’re in the area.

The park grounds are so big, you can’t possibly enjoy it all in one day, but here are some other things we did get to see.  Gordon’s Pond is actually a lagoon created by a huge storm and it’s just a trail away from the beach…. It’s crazy how the park is situation on the beach and then you take a trail and flop, you’re at this lagoon.  It’s perfect for a bike ride, a long walk, or just a stroll and even on the brisk day that we went there, it was simply beautiful and relaxing.

As we were leaving, which was only due to the hunger pangs that crept up on us, we noticed the signs for the fishing pier, the bath house, and a couple other spots.  We reached the pier just as the sun began to set and as the cliché goes, we exhaled….hahaha  We will definitely be back and this time with bikes or running shoes.  I could only imagine how nice a run would be there during a summer morning.
