Fentanyl knowledge introduction, the current supply of fentanyl precursors to the United States is actually produced in India
Fentanyl, the super drug, has soared in the U.S. market. The root cause is that a large number of American poisonous insects have no money, while fentanyl is industrially produced and supplied at low prices, but the smoking experience is stronger than expensive drugs such as heroin, dominating the drug market segment.
Fentanyl is the 1 potent synthetic opioid analgesic, about 50-100 times more potent than morphine, with the formula CO₂ H₂ N₂ O. The drug is 20 times more effective than heroin (that is, 20 times the poison), the amount is small but the effect is quick, and the satisfaction is stronger. According to DEA (U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration) data, the purchase price of 1 kilogram in the drug supply chain is 3000-5000 US dollars. After dilution, the black market in the United States can sell for 300000 US dollars, and the profit margin is much higher than that of heroin. These prices fluctuate greatly, but fentanyl prices are extremely advantageous anyway. The terminal price of fentanyl is only a fraction of that of heroin. A fentanyl tablet costs only $3, while a 1 small bag of heroin (0.1 grams) costs $20. The poor do not have to choose to take drugs. Of the opioids seized in Baltimore in 2022, 97% contained fentanyl, and pure heroin accounted for only 3%, completely dominating the market.
Another reason why fentanyl beats heroin is the cost and efficiency of production. The cost of producing 1 kilogram of fentanyl by chemical synthesis in China is only 200 US dollars. Heroin needs poppy cultivation, processing and purification. Its supply chain is complex and costly. It is produced in drug trafficker-controlled areas such as the "Golden Triangle" in Southeast Asia, Mexico and South America. From 2017 to 2020, opium poppy cultivation in Mexico will decrease by 47%, opium prices will plummet by 50%-80%, and farmers' income will be halved. The U.S. heroin market was already 90% dependent on Mexico, and "industrial substitution" occurred ". However, the global drug traffickers turned to methamphetamine (methamphetamine) and fentanyl, drug production reached a new high, and the industry was fully upgraded to take the chemical synthesis route.
It should be noted that in the global and American markets, methamphetamine is still the most smoked, and fentanyl replaces heroin. Methamphetamine is the product of chemical synthesis by Lao Bai in the American drama "Breaking Bad". It is the second generation of drugs, and its effect is excitement and hallucinogenic. Fentanyl is the third generation of drugs, and its effect is potent analgesia, sedation and inhibition of respiratory center. Outside the United States, "skating" is the absolute mainstream, fentanyl is not popular. One reason is that countries are cracking down hard, drug dealers think the risk is too high, and fentanyl mainly attacks the US market; the more important reason is that the "authentic" effect of drugs is the excitement of methamphetamine. Americans have a special "pain is stopped" drug culture, and people in other regions think that "suffering pain is the need for treatment". As a result, the United States has become a major market for fentanyl. But the problem with fentanyl is that it is too easy to overdose, making it the largest cause of death from drug abuse in the United States. Of the 107543 overdose deaths in 2023, 74702 died from fentanyl, twice as many as methamphetamine. Therefore, the United States pays special attention to fentanyl, which is much more harmful than other countries.
The "fentanyl precursor" that appears in the news involves knowledge of chemical synthesis. As shown in the figure, the international drug control attaches great importance to the control of NPP and 4-NPP these two compounds. Among them, 4-ANPP is the direct precursor of fentanyl. With 4-ANPP, a simple reaction can make fentanyl:
4-ANPP + propionyl chloride → fentanyl + hydrogen chloride
C₁₉H₂₄N₂ + C₃H₅ClO → C₂₂H₂₈N₂O + HCl
NPP can be regarded as the "precursor" of 4-NPP, and the relevant reaction formula:
NPP + Aniline → 4-ANPP + Water
C₁₃H₁₇NO + C₆H₇N → C₁₉H₂₄N₂ + H₂O
And 4-piperidone can be regarded as the "precursor" of NPP, the relevant reaction formula:
4-piperidone + phenylethyl bromide → NPP + hydrogen bromide
C₅H₉NO + C₈H₉Br → C₁₃H₁₇NO + HBr
Therefore, 4-piperidone (C-H-NO) is the starting point of all reactions and the core precursor. It is at the same level as ephedrine and pseudoephedrine and belongs to the highest level of control. Any cross-border transaction must be reported to the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB). These three "precursors" are at the heart of the control.
There are also complex propionyl chloride, aniline and phenethyl bromide. Anilines are common and unlikely to be regulated unless large purchases raise suspicions. Propionyl chloride and phenethyl bromide are also common in chemical industry and have a wide range of uses, but it is very sensitive to purchase by individuals and small groups. Under the attack of international cooperation, general individual production is no longer feasible. Only powerful organizations such as Mexican drug dealers can organize large-scale production and find "Laobai" to engage in large-scale production.
It should be pointed out that China has strong control over fentanyl-related compounds, and in 2019 it will be the first country in the world to list the whole category of fentanyl-related substances. China's control is serious. Starting from 4-piperidone, it has done very meticulous work and implemented the world's strictest approval and verification system for precursor exports. For example, chemical enterprises are required to install real-time monitoring equipment for nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to automatically compare illegal synthetic characteristic peaks, and the data are directly connected to the anti-drug platform of the Ministry of Public Security. Because these compounds also have serious uses, many countries also have formal import demand, so it is strong control, cross-border cooperation. To be fair, China has worked very hard to regulate the fentanyl chain. But if something goes wrong in other countries, it is out of China's control.
For example, India is also a large chemical producer, the level of generic drugs is not low, and there is no problem in the production of fentanyl precursors. India has become an important source of fentanyl precursors for drug cartels. For example, in March 2025, India's anti-terrorism forces arrested two people related to Surat pharmaceutical companies, who smuggled fentanyl precursors to Mexico and Guatemala. The US Department of Justice sued three senior executives of Hyderabad pharmaceutical companies for illegally exporting fentanyl precursors. This shows that Indian pharmaceutical companies are systematically involved in the fentanyl underground industry chain, which is incredible in China.
The United Nations 2022 report lists India as the second largest exporter of fentanyl and its precursors. Both the 2025 Threat Assessment issued by the United States and the Congressional hearing report stated that "India is becoming a source of finished fentanyl powder and fentanyl precursor chemicals", and India has become a key player as important as China. Since India's regulatory capacity is far inferior to China's, the Mexican fentanyl chain may have shifted to fentanyl precursors produced in India.
A Structural Examination of the "Decline" in U.S. Fentanyl Overdose Deaths: The Roles of the United States and India
Abstract
The recent modest decline in U.S. drug overdose deaths is more accurately characterized as a limited success in end-of-life intervention rather than a substantive resolution of the addiction crisis. Beneath this superficially optimistic data, a significant geographic shift is taking place within the global fentanyl supply chain — India's pharmaceutical sector is rapidly filling the precursor gap left by China's regulatory tightening. This structural transformation exposes the complex and often contradictory roles of the United States and India: the former functions as a "demand black hole" while engaging in blame-shifting, and the latter, as the "world's pharmacy," operates within regulatory gray zones that have effectively caught this "hot potato." Neither country has demonstrated adequate political will or institutional capacity to break the cycle of supply adaptation and demand persistence.
Keywords: Fentanyl; Drug Overdose; India; United States; Precursor Chemicals; Supply Chain; Governance
I. The U.S. Paradox: The "Demand Black Hole" and the Politics of Blame
Despite the modest retreat in domestic death numbers, this provides no grounds for relaxation. The United States remains the world's largest consumer market for opioids, and this vast "stock" of demand has not diminished.
Path Dependency in Externalizing Domestic Problems: When confronting the complex domestic addiction problem, U.S. politicians have long preferred to attribute the crisis to external supply chains. After China scheduled all fentanyl-related substances in 2019, Washington's accusations did not cease; they merely pivoted toward India as the new target of scrutiny.
Regulatory Hypocrisy and Institutional Weakness: While the United States criticizes other nations for inadequate controls, the vulnerabilities in its own domestic online prescription drug market have persisted for years. It is precisely the relatively lax oversight of online pharmacies in the U.S. that has provided trafficking networks with a prime infiltration channel.
II. India's Role: The "World's Pharmacy" Operating in Gray Zones
With its formidable synthetic chemistry capabilities and generic pharmaceutical industry, India occupies a central position in the global pharmaceutical supply chain. However, regarding the outflow of fentanyl precursors and counterfeit pills, its role is complex and deeply contradictory.
A "Perfect Handoff" in the Supply Chain: As international controls tightened on precursor exports from China, trafficking networks and some pharmaceutical enterprises systematically exploited India's chemical manufacturing capacity and online pharmacy channels to smuggle precursors and counterfeit pills to Mexico and the United States. India has effectively become the critical "midstream" transshipment hub in this illicit chain.
Regulatory Lag and Structural Imbalance: India's substantial legitimate pharmaceutical export interests create a conflict of interest when addressing illegal diversion. Although the Indian government has publicly committed to strengthening controls, domestic regulatory agencies — constrained by limited resources and inadequate data-sharing mechanisms — face persistent difficulties in tracking the final destinations of precursor chemicals.
III. A Structural Embarrassment: Capital-Driven Incentives and a Regulatory Arms Race
The delicate relationship between the U.S. and India in fentanyl governance is fundamentally a contest between the profit-seeking logic of global capital and the regulatory capacity of sovereign states.
Escalation of the Cat-and-Mouse Game: When the U.S. tightens border enforcement, alternative supply sources emerge in India; when India attempts to restrict a specific precursor, new precursors may quickly be developed. This is not simply a law enforcement problem but an issue rooted in industrial economics.
A Vicious Cycle of Mutual Accusation: Washington tends to shift responsibility toward New Delhi, citing inadequate Indian oversight; New Delhi, in turn, emphasizes that the unsustainable scale of U.S. addiction demand constitutes the true root cause. This pattern of mutual recrimination effectively creates operational space for transnational criminal networks.
IV. The Limits of "End-of-Life" Interventions
The current decline in fentanyl overdose mortality, however real in statistical terms, has been achieved primarily through downstream measures — particularly the expanded distribution of naloxone — rather than through reductions in addiction incidence or structural changes in the illicit drug market. This approach does not alter the underlying logic of the crisis. As long as the large population of individuals with opioid dependence in the U.S. remains untreated or inadequately supported, the demand for substances will persist. And as long as India's regulatory system continues to operate with significant gaps, the supply side will adapt to circumvent enforcement efforts.
V. Conclusion
The modest decline in fentanyl-related deaths should not be mistaken for the resolution of the crisis. The emergence of India as a new supply node, combined with the persistence of the massive U.S. demand black hole, has already overstretched the current governance framework. Before the United States and India establish effective political trust and operational coordination — and before the U.S. confronts the scale of its domestic addiction problem — the so-called "decline" may well prove to be a prelude to a larger, more severe wave of deaths. The crisis has not ended; it has merely relocated and transformed.
Do wolf romance stories always start like this, or are they really just similar without the Morgan plot?
Or I’m just missing Choices? 😂
Lately, I've been swamped with work, resorting to listening to audiobooks while I grind away. Then, out of nowhere, a story titled 'Chosen by Fate, Rejected by the Alpha' unexpectedly began to play. It struck me in a moment of recognition, it sounded like 'Choices: Wolf Bride.' Intrigued, I decided to keep listening.
Similarities: a timid MC(Main Character) devoid of wolf powers who unexpectedly becomes the strongest of them all, a MC with a wolf mother impregnated by a non-wolf father, a romantic interest with the alpha wolf, and a plot filled with kidnapping and more.
Could they have the same inspiration?

What is wrong with Choices?
April Fool’s book by Choices. I can’t believe I fell for it, I was so intrigued. 😂
I was so happy because it’s GoC book. Well played Choices. 😂
I don’t know why Cas is so against the outfit. It seems like something she would pick.
This art is so gorgeous. 😍
I've been so busy lately that I'm only just getting around to reading this chapter. I wish Olivia was a canon option I would pick Olivia over other LIs in a heartbeat.
Thank you for providing us with this book, although I'm disappointed that they didn't include Poppy or Aurora Emery, at least in Open Heart Book 1. I’ve been dying to romance these two along with Olivia. Sure, we got to romance Poppy at the end of QB2, but I would love a chapter where we get to play as Poppy during her moments with MC. They've done that in The Dalton Affairs. I want to see Poppy's inner thoughts whenever she hooks up with MC.
Why did Olivia’s earrings change the moment she gets rid of her clothes? Is this some kind of glitch?

I’m hoping there would be Poppy Min Sinclair. Come on PB. I can’t wait for Olivia’s turn next chapter.
The Deadliest Gambit theory.
I think Nick is like Logan Mills or Theresa Holland in Most Wanted, where they introduce the book's plot. However, unlike Logan or Theresa, who become unimportant to the plot after they die, I believe the story will revolve around Nick. Our MC will try to solve who killed Nick. I guess our MC would be the oldest friend he’s referring to here.
At first I think he was going to end his life base on his dialogues, but I think he’s going to staged his own death using this as opportunity to get answers he needed. We don’t know for sure, I’m excited for chapter 2.
Blades of Light and Shadow 2 (3 ending pros and cons and which ending is better in my opinion)
Sealing the Barrier
Advantage: Your LIs will come with you to the Shadow Realm, Nia still practices treatment by using plants.
Disadvantage: With the sealed barrier, magic starts fading out. The elves’ aged start to feel weak, goblins are also disappearing, dwarves are also affected but not as bad as Goblins and Elves. Wren missing Mal, Kade is looking for ways to reopen the portal to bring MC back.
This one is definitely the worst ending among the 3 endings.
Despite of fulfilling Watcher’s mission the Queen which I suspected to be Nifara still disappointed with MC staying in the Shadow Realm with Valax.
Keeping the Realms connected
Advantage: Daywalkers and Ashen can enter freely into both realms. Goblins finally settle in Deadwood and revive the place. Everyone is happy with the new set up.
Disadvantage: Some Daywalkers can be influenced by corruption and some Ashen can feel weak from too much light exposure. Being away from the portal will weaken the magic.
Best ending among the 3 endings.
Combining two realms as one.
Advantage: Magic becomes whole. Shadow’s corruption and using Light magic draining Life force no longer exists.
Disadvantage: 2 realms collide and some of the structure are destroyed. Everyone are upset with MC for making such a decision. Daywalkers and Ashen keep fighting because they don’t trust each other. Valax settle in Port Parnassus but daywalkers are still have a hard time trusting Valax, blaming her people for the destruction of their city.
This ending is the tolerable one.
Theory:
What if Azura from TCTF is the queen’s descendant since both using lightning, and have ability to give life and take life. What if Azura is like the Watcher, a creation of the Queen. After BoLaS MC beats the Queen they decided to get rid of magic for good to balance the world, leading to the extinction of dwarves, elves, goblins, and other creatures that use magic. Except dragons because Sei and Dom could be Valax’s descendants. I wonder if there’s connection between two books.
Unbridled
Maxwell: W-Wait, why do you keep looking at me when they mention gay?

Confession: I was addicted to this app instantly. It has great storyline, sound effects and good graphic. Kudos to the artist, writers and app developer. I highly recommended this to those who love murder mystery visual novel games that don't revolve around romance.
Favorite character: Portia(surprisingly), Katharine, Margot, Freddie, and Mrs Bird
Least favorite: Q, and Janet
Hated: Jax
Even the mini games are fun to play and challenging.
Cut scenes are good.
The voices they use fits each characters.
Suggestion: I hope the next protagonist will be male though I know it would be Carla again, I hope not. I hope there will be more jumpscare.
I can't wait for the next chapter!
Why this app is so underrated?
