The One Who Rises

She narrowed her eyes. “Are you lying to me, Chat?”

“Of course not” he replied. “It’s just been, kind of stressful lately.”

“Do you need to talk about it?” She asked.

“No, no” he replied “Ladybug already gave me some advice. I’d just like to spend a relaxing evening with someone. Maybe get some more cookies?” he smiled.

“Oh I see. Feed an alley cat once and he comes crawling back for more.” She teased. “I’d love some company tonight. Come on in.” With that the girl disappeared, going to get the cookies.

He smiled and made his way into her room “Well if the food is good, you know the cat is going to continue to come back.” he retorted.

“Then I suppose I’ll never get rid of you.” She giggled and moved downstairs to get cookies.

He chuckled, making himself comfortable on her chaise. “No you will not.” He smiled.

She returned with the food and some drinks as well. “There you are.” She said before sitting at her desk and looking over at him. “So How was your day?”

She landed on their meeting place and looked back at him. “Goodnight Chat I hope you take my advice with your friend.” She waved before swinging off again.

“Good night My Lady” he replied before heading off towards Marinette’s balcony. Waiting on the railing, wondering if he should bother her or not, but he had promised to come see her again tonight.

Marinette sat in front of her dressed, slowly dragging the brush through her loose hair as she tried to just let herself decompress from the day.

He figured he’d at least say hello. then if she didn’t want to see him he’d leave. Sighing he made his way over to the trapdoor. Knocking a bit hesitantly.

Marinette froze before moving to the trap door and opening it. Her hair blew around her face from the wind change and she brushed it from her eyes before looking up. “Oh hey Chat.” She smiled.

“Hey” he waved hesitantly, “Thought I’d stop by because, I said I would.” he said a bit awkwardly.

Ladybug laughed as she began to patrol, letting her sadness melt away as the wind whipped past her face.

Chat was keeping a pretty even pace with her. “I’m gonna catch you Ladybug!” He smiled, almost sure he could win this time.

“You always say that.” She responded with a laugh. “Let’s see if you’re true to your word this time!”

He knew her route pretty well by this point, so discreetly he hid under the rooftops and made his way to the spot he knew she’d end up at. Catching her as she landed “I win, give me a kiss” he smiled.

Ladybug gasped as she was suddenly cradled. She smiled up at her partner before it quickly faded. “Chat come on we’ve talked about this.” She sighed and began to climb out of his arms.

“Chat you can’t please everyone.” She said. “But you also have to give her space. If she wants to remain friends as you requested then she’s going to need space and time for that. You can’t expect everything to be perfect immediately. Give her some time.”
