I want to start off by saying you should absolutely not take me too seriously. This is a post about someone booping their nose, I mean come on. Anyway.
Recently I’ve become pretty obsessed with the 1D boys (mainly Louis to be fair, what even is this man) and their interviews. There’s always a plethora of little things happening besides answering (if that) the interviewer’s questions, and I can’t help but see some patterns. None of it is mind blowing, but if you’re as deeply lost in the world of what-even-are-these-boys as me and have seen every 1D moment a milion times, you might enjoy these. They constantly do a ton of subtle signaling to eachother, mainly in the form of coughs, I’ve seen posts about coughs, I’ve seen sniffs, I’ve seen (their own special) sign language, but mr. nose tap has been left out, so when I find tappy moments I’m going to gif them and add them to this post. (I try not to include moments from footage where he just seems generally sniffy throughout, even if they are really suspicious).

It’s pretty undeniable there were loads of things the boys weren’t allowed to say during 1D, but in this interview, when asked about secrets, Louis taps his nose in a very deliberate manner. Now a very similar gesture (google paste blow) means there is a secret / they can’t talk about it. I’m pretty convinced that tap was intentional and not a “my nostril is bothering me right now”.
I believe besides Louis also the other boys used a nose wipe as a mannerism and/or to signal there’s something that could be said but he is not saying. Here’s a good indication I’m not entirely full of bullshit where Harry does it naturally as a joke:
