Karl in his custom BORO NORAGI:

Boro (ぼろ) is a traditional Japanese technique used to patch and mend ragged fabric. The Kimono Kid uses these same techniques to create the Boro Haori. Each patch is hand-stitched and reinforced with sashiko (刺し子) quilting stitches.

Custom Hand-Stitched Sashiko Embroidery Noragi:

Sashiko (刺し子) is a traditional hand embroidery technique. This noragi is made of raw indigo denim and hand-stitched sashiko detailing.

Boro (ぼろ) is a traditional Japanese technique used to patch and mend ragged fabric. The Kimono Kid uses these same techniques to create this matching set.

Custom Hand-Painted Haori Kimono by THE KIMONO KID.

Haori (羽織) is a traditional deep-sleeved kimono jacket. It is worn as an outer garment to compliment one wearing full Yukata and Obi. This haori is hand-painted with complimenting hand-dyed red patchwork.

Hand-dyed Indigo Shibori Noragi by THE KIMONO KID.

Shibori (搾り), a traditional Japanese resist dye technique. This noragi utilizes both Shibori and Itajime Shibori, a shape resist dye technique. The vertical stripe pattern you see was made by using a block of wood that was then folded into the fabric in an accordion style.
