You already know I ain’t good with this sappy shit, but fuck it, it’s your day and I’m not holding back.

Remember when we were fifteen and I told you to piss off because you kept shamelessly starin’ at me in the cafeteria? Yeah, well, even back then my chest was doing that stupid hammering thing every time you laughed. I just called it “anger” because I was a dumbass who didn’t know what love felt like yet. Took me years to figure out the only thing I ever wanted to fight for was the right to keep that smile on your face.

Now I get to wake up to it every morning. I get to come home to you wrapped in one of my hoodies that looks like a damn dress on you, hair messy, eyes soft, calling me “Katsuki” in that tone that turns my fucking heart to jelly. I still act like it pisses me off when you leave your stupid mangas… all over the place or when you hog the blankets, but the truth? I’d burn the whole damn world down before I let anyone take those little habits away from me.

You’re my safe place, Kylee. My loud, chaotic, sun-bright safe place. After every patrol, every mission, every time the hero commission crawls up my ass, I just think about walking through our door and having you crash into me like I’m the only thing keeping you tethered to the planet. Makes me feel like the strongest motherfuckin’ Explosion God Dynamight alive, because I am, when I’ve got you waiting for me.

Today’s yours, baby. All of it. I’ve got the whole damn day planned: rooftop dinner under strings of lights that took me three cursing hours to hang, that red velvet cake you love (yeah, I baked it myself, duh?), and later, when the city quiets down, I’m gonna kiss every single inch of you until you forget how to say anything but my name.

You turned this angry, explosive idiot into the luckiest man on earth. I’m still loud, still rough around the edges, but you? You make me soft in all the places that matter. And I’m never giving that back.
