The Kats Pride

The Kats Pride was founded on May 4, 2017. Today marks our first birthday! Regrettably, the last year has seen many losses and the company is now very small and Balmung is rather hard to find new members in. But we’re not going anywhere. No matter how small in number we may be, we’ll have plenty of heart to go around. 

I’m a bit late posting here, but I figured we could use a small update! A Happy New Year to all of my fellow Kats! <3  Patch 4.2 is just around the corner (1/30) and I can’t wait to dive(literally) right in! Submarines will become available on Patch day and I am overjoyed! I’ll be doing what I can to ensure we get our submarine as quickly as possible. (Crafters appreciated, it takes 4 to progress the steps! <3) There will be new crafted gear as well as new Tomestone gear, so please look forward to it™! One other highly anticipated feature that’s on the way is MORE HOUSING. Although, they’ve slightly disappointed us in that FCs get first dibs and the amount of plots doesn’t seem like it’ll be enough for everyone’s personal houses. BUT let’s trust Yoshi P on this one to see what happens. House selling will also be virtually impossible with a randomized timer being implemented after relinquishing of plots. Apartments should also be available this go around for folks just wanting a(nother) room. There are new duties awaiting us soon and lots of excitement! The Glamour chest is also a very exciting implement for those of us who like outfits (here’s looking at Ara!).  All in all, I look forward to this patch with everyone, and until then... MONSTER HUNTER WORLD IS OUT TONIGHT. :D

As the last month of the year is coming close to an end, citizens of Eorzea are setting up their trees, presents, and toys for the Starlight Celebration! Kicking off on 12/15 this year, the new event has dropped along with some beary nice rewards! And during this season of cheer, The Kats Pride would like to host our very own Starlight Celebration event on Saturday, December 30th, 2017 at  2 PM PST/5 PM EST!

Perform on Stage! We’ve set up a small stage in our Holiday room that we’d like to invite folks to use to show off their performance skills! Bard level 30 is needed to use the Perform action, and we’ll welcome whatever you wanna play! Be it random notes thrown together, or your favorite song, share your skills with the group! Meet Santa Claus! After our performances conclude, take a turn to sit with our very own Santa and tell him what YOU want for Starlight! It can be anything, silly or serious! In Character is WELCOMED and ENCOURAGED, but is not required by any means! <3 Hot and Cold! (Hosted by Kyri and C’rik!)    Our naughty, residential Miqo'te kitten has gotten into trouble again! She's been hiding in the most inconvenient of places, and stealing all the candy canes from the Starlight tree for herself in the process.     The Stuffed Khloe doll will be hidden in the Free Company house for everyone to find. Your hints will be given to you in the same manner as a game of "Hot and Cold," with the hotter you are, the closer you are to finding Khloe! The first to say "I've found her!" and reveal exactly where she's at will receive a prize.      After she's been found, we'll ask everyone to leave the house, so she has a chance to hide once more! Small prizes will be given to the winner of each round, with the one that's found Khloe the most receiving a secret, extra prize. - C’rik Tia

The imps are out and about in the wake of All Saint's Wake, causing their mischief and mayhem for the Adventurer's Guild... not to mention for every other citizen of Eorzea on the most frightful festival of the year! While collecting their treats of Pumpkin Cookies and attempting to dodge the tricks of friend and foe, it’s easy to forget about one of the most important things about the season. What’s that, you might ask? Being able to dress up in whatever you want, of course! To accompany the spookiest day of the year, the players behind C’rik Tia and Ifri Diavat are offering the first (of possibly many) Costume Contest to members of The Kats Pride! **Please note: I know we’re a small FC, but if at least five people don’t show up to participate, we won’t be able to continue with the event.**

This event is to be hosted exclusively in-character (IC) through the event. While participants are by no means going to be forced to be (but are encouraged to play along, for fun!), please be aware that both C’rik and Ifri will be portrayed IC! That means they may say some things that you, as a person, may not necessarily agree with or may not like. Remember that those remarks don’t reflect the attitudes of the people behind the characters. Ifri may come off as snarky or mean, and C’rik may be arrogant and conceited… these will reflect in their “reviews” of your entry costumes!

Look at those eyes! That mane! And those wings!  Have you ever wished you could have a primal mount, or simply wish you had all of the ponies for the Kirin mount? Wish no longer - The Kats Pride is going to do mount farming for our weekly event! What mount will we be farming?

Easy! We will be taking a poll on our Discord channel immediately after I post this. We will start with most desired and run until the time limit is up. If we finish the first primal before the time limit, we will proceed to another primal for farming.

When is the event and how long will it run?

The Primal Farming event will be on Saturday, Oct. 21st at 5pm PDT/ 8pm EDT. The intended run time will be 2 hours, but will vary based on participation.

Mounts that drop will be considered free lot. All gear/items that drop will also be free lot.

These will be unsynced fights to ensure the most runs in our allotted time! c: If you have any questions, please ask me (Kyri Mathis) in game or through Discord!

With the arrival of Patch 4.1 in just a few days, and the release of the Shirogane housing markets, it’s more important than ever to prepare yourself accordingly! These tips are for anyone who is looking to buy a house during this patch release.

Set yourself in busy mode as soon as you log in to the game. By doing this, you can prevent players who like to initiate trades to prevent you from buying your plot. I can’t stress this enough! People can be mean. :( It’s quick, too! Just type /busy in the chat log and hit enter. (You can also make a macro of this.

Make sure to log out right outside of the area. This way, when the patch goes live you won’t have to travel too far! 

Have your gil on your person, not in your retainer! For obvious reasons, you’ll want your gil available right away. Hitting a summoning bell and having to withdraw might be a pain on opening morning. 

Be sure to check updates for the FFXIV launcher earlier than maintenance end time. By checking for the updates early, you can get into the game right at the end of maintenance rather than having to install at the last minute.

Make sure you meet the prerequisites to own a house and/or apartment! You’ll only need a level 50 character and to be a Second Lieutenant in your respective Grand Company.

Pick your plot in advance. Sort of. I compile a list of acceptable plot locations, and mark down my top 3 choices. Be sure to also mark down the aetherytes near your desired plot(s)! Keep in mind the map ROTATES between the main ward and the subdivision, so the aetherytes may be different near your new home!

I sincerely hope these tips will come in handy for anyone participating in the Patchmas 4.1 release. Shirogane housing is bound to be beautiful! Let’s all do our best, and our Patch Party announcement is coming soon!

So most of us know the story of Death Note. Even if you haven’t watched it, I’m sure you’ve seen the references back when it was super popular. Well, Netflix has decided to adapt the anime into a live-action (actually, I’m not sure if its a movie or episodes yet) SOMETHING. And we all LOVE live-action anime adaptations, am I right? (Sarcastic. Please watch the Dragonball movie we DON’T talk about if you want to understand). In any case, the release happens this week and we would love to all watch it together and discuss over Discord our opinions, thoughts, and engage in general japery.
