if you told me a few years ago that I’d be reblogging a gifset of Mitt Romney, agreeing with every word he said, I would NOT have believed you.

Everyone learns differently, but since group-thinking influences curriculum, it paves the way for bias.

It’s a useful call to arms that everyone who is #BernieOrBust needs to hear and think about.

I’ve made it really clear that Bernie Sanders is who I wanted for my president, and I did what I could to make that happen … but he didn’t get the nomination, and now my realistic choice is between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

I think Michael Moore is right about Hillary not exciting young people the way President Obama did and does. It’s now our job to help everyone who is upset and disappointed and thinking about staying home to realize that we’re going to need every single vote we can get to defeat and utterly demolish and humiliate Donald Trump and everything he stands for.

I don’t like that Clinton is a warmonger. I don’t like that she’s too close to Wall Street. I don’t like that she and her campaign were condescending and dismissive of Millennials during the primaries.

But none of that changes the reality we are facing: it’s Clinton or Trump. I understand that younger voters don’t remember the 2000 election when SCOTUS installed Bush, and I understand that younger voters who were in elementary school during his disastrous presidency were effectively insulated from it because they were kids. I was *exactly* that kid in 2000 when I voted for Nader, because Bush was an asshole and Gore was a terrible candidate.

But if I could get my vote back now, I’d build the time machine with my own hands. Think of the millions of people who have died because of Bush. Think of the destruction of our climate that is now a total crisis, because Bush and his administration did nothing to address it. Think of how much horrible debt college students have, because Bush put people who just wanted to take their money away from them into positions of power. Think about the militarization of our police, which began under Bush. 

President Obama did everything he could to roll back the damage Bush and Cheney did to our country and the world, and we aren’t even halfway to where we need to be. I don’t know how much President Clinton will work to continue rolling it back, but even if she keeps it in the same place, that’s better for our country and the world than what will happen under a President Trump.

If you, like me, wanted Bernie Sanders to be our president, if you, like me, believe in his revolution, if you, like me, believe that we have to make America work for the 99%, then your choice in this election is Hillary Clinton.

She’s not perfect. She’s not my first choice, or even in my top five choices. But she is the choice I have if I want to protect my country and my children from Donald Trump.

And I don’t want to speak over Asian Americans, but that shit pisses me off so fucking much! Stop asking Japanese people how they feel about westerners/Americans wearing Kimonos, wearing yellowface, being cast in live adaptions of their stories, being problematic weeaboo trash, etc! They don’t live in America. They don’t live here. There’s a reason why John Cho and Ming-Na Wen spoke up like “this is bullshit” but a Japanese producer doesn’t care. BECAUSE THIS SHIT LITERALLY DOES NOT AFFECT THEM. At least not negatively. In a best case scenario, the movie is a hit, and Ghost in the Shell gets more readers and people buying the dvds and movies and etc and giving that company more money. Japanese actors can easily get jobs in Japan (as long as they’re good). In America? Asian actors get so few roles that they make up like less than 1% of the roles available (that’s an old statistic, and idk if that’s changed in recent years, so tell me if that’s gone up), and if they do get roles, it’s crappy background characters that are racist stereotypes and caricatures of their cultures. Japanese people don’t have a voice here because it doesn’t affect them. AT MOST, it affects them with western tourists traveling to Japan acting like idiots, but 1) Japan would love the money that would make them and 2) the average Japanese person STILL doesn’t have to deal with an asshole like that. So they don’t get to speak on things and be looked at as the “voice of reason” like we don’t know why Asian Americans are mad/annoyed at the whitewashing! 

Please don’t ever trust a compilation video of Japanese reactions produced by white foreigners. They ask misleading questions and constantly cherry pick the results to produce a false impression of happy compliant Japanese who just love anything white people do.

Many Japanese communicate in a more indirect way than the US are used to. Japanese express opinions much more politely. If you see the subtitles in one of those reaction videos, they’re saying, “Whatever makes them happy.” However, what many of us are hearing, combined with body language and facial expressions, is “Holy shit look at those stupid gaijin fucks.” 

Japanese-in-Japan also have a diversity of opinions about cultural appropriation and whitewashing. Some of them understand it very well and are upset by it. Others understand it but are upset for different reasons than diaspora Japanese are. Others don’t care because it doesn’t affect them, and are irritated that they’re even being asked about such an irrelevant thing.

None of this “I paid for the art. It is mine.” bullshit, unless the artist actually sells you the copyright (something which has to be stated and never assumed, and something you would have to pay extra for) you can not claim ownership over the piece, even if you paid for it.

And yes, this means you can not alter the work in any way, you can not use it for banners/advertisements/etc., you can not print it, you can not sell copies unless agreed upon with the artist

and artists are also protected under moral rights

meaning that the artist has the right of attribution (the right to be identified and named as the creator of their work), the right against false attribution, and the right of integrity. (Source)

Shawn Wasabi, someone I am very privileged to call my friend, has been tweeting tonight that his car got broken into and his one-of-a-kind Midi Fighter 64 was stolen from it, along with his macbook and backup harddrive. The Midi Fighter is this cool launchpad he plays.

The police are refusing to do anything about it, because his eyes were red (from crying) and they decided he and his friends had been smoking. They won’t even let him file a report.

Please, please keep your eyes peeled for his Midi Fighter. It is the only one of its kind in the world. That Midi is his entire musical life and he’s devastated that it got stolen. If you know or see ANYTHING, PLEASE contact the San Francisco police.

And as well all know, our ethnicity, our races, and our culture are so much deeper than how we friggin’ look.”

Wu stressed that Hollywood’s problem isn’t a lack of creative freedom, but rather a lack of diverse representation. “A lot of people’s visions of who they think looks like their hero is rooted in systemic racism,” she said, calling on filmmakers to “stretch their imagination” and create more roles for Asian-Americans. “I don’t think it is bad for them to be challenged to think outside their boxes. … I don’t think it will reduce their work for them to think, What if I cast this person as a Latina?“

Both Wu, who has been vocal about the lack of opportunities for Asian-American actors, and Wen urged the audience to speak out about the racism that’s still prevalent in Hollywood. “The whitewashing will just continue and continue if [white filmmakers] become comfortable,” said Wen.
