Madrid
It’s 11:00PM in Madrid. A sandstorm shrouded the city earlier today.
I came from class and went right home to eat lunch then, sat in a cafe for 2 hours to write our final paper. Walked home and turned to look at the sky. It feels unreal to be here. I almost don’t believe it; it feels like a dream and I dont want to wake up.
The term ends in 10 days. It’s terrifying how fast everything is happening, and now that I think about it, the sandstorm today reminded me of how fleeting these moments are. The memory of this city, the life changing experience in grad school is slowly slipping through my fingers like sand. I can barely hold on to it and I miss it already.
I’m incredibly grateful to be here. When it was International Women’s Day, the only woman I wanted to celebrate was myself. I’m proud of me, and I don’t think I’ve ever said that to myself. So, I’m leaving this here to remind myself of this moment - In bed, in my hoodie and fuzzy socks, feeling extremely content.
