End year Exam
For our End Year Exam we had to animate Dad from American Dog. This was a lot of fun to animate!
End Year Showreel
Sort of a recap, and a few more new things, here is the showreel for the 2nd Semester.
Music credit goes to Gustavo Santaolallla (Vamos).
Foofarawr - Short Short Film
Well after sharing some pre-production stuff, I must finally share the film. I hope you enjoy it. Again, I’d like to credit the wonderful team:
-Ariel Ries -Silvia Artak -Charly K. Mårtensson -Sebastian Hannibal -Tobias Orderud -Otto Moesgård
It was awesome to work with these guys.
SSF - Foofarawr
Rough animation of SC05 for Foofarawr. This is Neon Bear’s first appearance. I went for a very soft consistency on Neon Bear, but playful as ever. The full short is coming in the next post.

SSF - Foofarawr
Design for the main character of the short, Little Cub. Many iterations and many animals that we cycled through. In the end, the raccon was the chosen one.
SHORT SHORT FILM PROJECT
The Short Short Film project is a collaborative effort between CA and CGA students. We create 30 second films aimed for 4 to 6 year olds.

Neon fur? I thought you said neon fur?
Yeah the story about a scared little bear with fur that glows to show that he’s scared of silly things, that it’s all in his mind.
That is the paraphrased conception of Neon Bear. We hadn’t even begun brainstorming and he was there. The basics of the story just sprung out of me and the team wrangled it into the shape you will see. The team consisted of Ariel Ries, Charly K. Mårtensson, Silvia Artak, Sebastian Hannibal, Otto Moesgård, Tobias Orderud and myself.
Who is Neon Bear? He’s a protective spirit. A guardian who comes when a small cub needs him. He’s made of light and he shows that there is nothing to be afraid of.
After many rounds of character design I was happy to finalize Neon Bear’s one. There were so many cool ones, but we had to keep it simple, cuddly and appealing to kids.

Monologue
This is the first dialogue assignment we’ve had at school and it was a blast. We had Sarah Airriess (twirlynoodle.blogspot.com) teaching and she was the endless well of information. Could not have asked for a better animation teacher. It was fun to animate Wirt from Over The Garden Wall in a douchy sleezy attitude. I guess my interpretation of the audio was not as it was intended...but it worked!
Instructor - Sarah Airriess
Character Design - Gansitt Beer
We were “commissioned” to design a couple of characters for a very old beer commercial, based solely on the audio recorded for it. This was a lot of fun as I got to draw inspiration from UPA and Ronald Searle, plus go grazy with cowboy and horse designs.
Instructor - Julia Bracegirdle

Interaction Animation For this assignment we had to have two characters hugging. The models are from Disney’s Paperman. It was a tough one! Thankfully we had the amazingly talented Fabian Erlinghauser, from Cartoon Saloon, as a teacher.
Instructor - Fabian Erlinghauser
Color Assignment - ANIMATED! I finalized the Color Assignment, the Temple of The Cosmic Egg...with the added bonus of animating the snake. Took a bit of time, but was very rewarding. Instructor - Lawrence Marvitt
The Phoenix - Another piece inspired by the concept of time in mythology. Appropriate for Easter, since it signifies rebirth. From its ashes, the phoenix rises.
Ouroboros - Illustration done during the Easter Break. The ouroboros is a symbol, concept or at the very least an image that signifies eternalism. Meaning there is no beginning or no end.
Evidence of the March 2015 eclipse...although it was mostly covered in clouds. Thanks, Denmark!

Stylized Animation HEY! HELLO! ‘OW ARE YOU?! A week full of hiccups, mainly because we tried different doftware for doing stylized animation, which is just limited animation wearing a tutu. Praised be the fates we used flash and I found an island in the vast ocean. Beyond the frustration that After Effects and Toon Boom provoked it was fun helping out my classmates with the work. Both teachers were a lot of fun and great support. Cheers! Instructors: Denis Chapon & Humphrey Erm
Layout - Close Encounters
One of the most fun assignments we’ve had on the layout week. This has been more of a compositing job, though I did a bunch of animation, mainly FX in 2D. I tried recreating security cam footage on a taped over VHS. Hope you like it.
