Book is chugging along. Here are some excerpts from my terrible first draft:

"I’m speedrunning my own oblivion. The more I try to fight my fate, the faster it slams into me. I’m going to have to visit mom, and who knows what that means. I’m afraid that if I go into the fae wilds again, I’ll never come back, and now that Leo is here, I want to come back. I have this strange feeling that Leo is making me tethered, more real. Maybe he can help me with this Isaac problem."

“I should kill him.”

We sit in silence for a moment and I’m having several thoughts at once. She’s obviously joking, right? She seems serious. At this point I can usually tell when Aurora is joking or not and she seems serious. Kill me? Would she really do that? I should leave this city, would that affect our connection? Can she tell that Isaac is stressed right now? What if she calls my name while I’m in front of her again like in the cafe?” My palms are very sweaty and I’m swallowing a lot trying to steady myself. Then she lands the next blow.

“I can’t kill him though.”

“Why’s that?” I ask and I try to chuckle through it but it doesn’t sound right.

“I think I like him.” Yeah I know, I want to say but I don’t. I wait. I’m frozen.

“What are you talking about?” I ask, but I know exactly what he’s talking about. It’s been all I can think about for weeks. Pen is frozen in place, and keeps glancing behind her as lookout. I’m cornered.

“You’re texting her? Taunting her? Do you have any idea the fire you’re playing with? Aurora is fuming about her servant causing problems. How far has it gone?”

“Uh…” I feel awkward answering. We sexted for hours last night doesn’t seem like the right thing to say. “I’m gonna tell her. Tonight, ok?” I offer. Bear and Pen both raise their eyebrows.

“You are?” Pen asks.

“Yes. I like her ok? A lot.

im so glad you enjoy these characters and their antics! even if it is a tragedy overall… i’m almost done with the next chapter and i hope to post it in april! i am TERRIBLE at updating so i really am overjoyed that folks still think about my fic…
