The Great Hare Hunt

this week i went on a writing retreat/workshop type thing which i have just returned from!! i got a lot of advice about writing (mostly poems,, but some was relevant to novels) and also managed to start the first page and a half of the first novella for The Great Hare Hunt!!

i was doing some work on the design of the project's main antagonist, the infamous gentleman thief by the name of the Hare, in a previous post and now ive finished fully rendered designs!

as ive done more thinking and working on rewriting the plot slightly, ive realised it might be a better idea if i change the format of this project for now to help me with not getting overloaded!

so, ive decided The Great Hare Hunt will be a series of illustrated digital novellas which i will then adapt into a comic at a later date!! i really love writing and dont have a lot of comic design practice yet, especially while writing as i go, so hopefully this will help me organise everything much better and focus on the writing and plot for now!!

ive already been doing work on the designs and have plans so far for 4 plots, each being their own novella most likely! this will take a long time, so i cant place a date for the release just yet, but when i sort out the plot for the first novella ill hopefully be able to give an estimate for its release!

originally i was really fixated on the idea of making the Hare's design be a big reveal... but honestly i dont really care anymore! his old design (minus his tophat) is on the left, whereas i tried doodling a new design just now (right)

im gonna workshop it more since i dont think the shape language is as good as i want it to be, since hes meant to be vaguely heart themed and maybe have a more imposing silhouette

Hello again!! It's been a few months since I last posted, saying that I was taking an extended hiatus from this project due to losing motivation, which is true! However, recently I've started looking back at my notes and plans with a different perspective, and I'm wondering if now is the time to restart my work...

For context, I've been stuck in a really bad burnout for months and even drawing--something I've been doing basically my whole life--has felt more and more impossible, and more like a chore.

Even as I make this update, that burnout is still very much present, so I want to take this as slow as I need and try make this project into something I find fun again, and hopefully bring me out of burnout again!

I know this sounds silly coming from a blog with less than 10 followers about a project that never even got out of the concepts stage, but it was actually something I had been working on at the side for close to a year and since it was what brought me out of another burnout from an earlier failed project, I have a pretty emotional attachment to at the very least making it some sort of reality.

So, what now? I'm probably going to post doodles, concepts, and writing drafts as a sort of personal progress blog, no matter if they get attention or not, so if anyone is seeing this post, come stop by and say hello!!

Once I get a good amount of the pages finished, I may begin making posts on other sites to try and get some attention (since I'm not sure many people are interested currently... zero notes lol) but I'll figure all of that out later.

I consider it to be both as it sets up the start of the comic before getting into the actual storyline, like a prologue, but is also a way for me to introduce some of the characters (mainly Isaac) and test out how I'd like the comic to be, so it's also a pilot.

Welcome to the OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT POST for the original webcomic series: HARE HUNT!

This is a personal project I've been working on for some months now, and will be uploaded on my own website [HERE] periodically in full chapters. I hope to upload the prologue chapter sometime this year! (June if I'm lucky, but no promises!) In the meantime, I plan to make art of the characters, and hopefully some mini-comics after the prologue releases. Question box is open!

Hare Hunt follows a young apprentice detective, Isaac Makari, and his rivalry with a new, notorious phantom thief, nicknamed 'the Hare'. In the prologue, Isaac hopes to be accepted into his dream university to study criminal justice, but on the morning of his entrance exam, things don't go to plan...
