âSo what can we learn from this study? On the data side, we see that everything is proceeding as planned. Nobodyâs paying $50 for a burger at McDonaldâs, or $16 for a can of tuna at Safeway. Employers wish their profits were higher, and workers are glad they got a raise, but they wish they made more money. Three years after Seattle started down the road to $15, everything is as it should be. Those apocalyptic claims of destruction and business closures havenât been proven true. One thing the study didnât explain was why the sky didnât fall as promised. Why werenât workers laid off in droves, or replaced with robots? Why didnât prices skyrocket? Why does Seattle have more restaurants now than at any point in its history? Itâs because those workers who saw a raise now have more money to spend in the city around them. Those restaurant workers are eating in more restaurants. Theyâre buying more groceries. Theyâre buying more clothes and cars. That increased consumer demand is creating jobs, and more than paying for the increased minimum wage. The $15 minimum wage established a positive feedback loop that created growth in Seattle by including more people in the economy. In other words, it worked exactly as intended.â
â Seattleâs $15 Minimum Wage Experiment Is a Success (via allthecanadianpolitics)
Iâm gonna leave this right here.
When you give consumers money, they spend it. When you give old, rich, white men money, they hoard it.

Researchers look at countries that have prohibited corporal punishment for kids and their rate of youth violence.
Now a new study looking at 400,000 youths from 88 countries around the world suggests such bans are making a difference in reducing youth violence. It marks the first systematic assessment of whether an association exists between a ban on corporal punishment and the frequency in which adolescents get into fights.Â
[F]or both boys and girls, [prof. Elizabeth Gershoff] said, âWe found [spanking] linked to more aggression, more delinquent behavior, more mental health problems, worse relationships with parents, and putting the children at higher risk for physical abuse from their parents.â
âPeople often ask: Why didnât you look for positive aspects?â she continued. âMy answer is: We did, and there were none. We see consistently that the more children are spanked, the more behavioral problems they have in the years ahead.â
Idk I feel like if these rapist boys got beat they wouldnât be out raping girlsâŚ. Heck the nicest males I do know got the sht beat out of them. Bc their moms put fear into them. I personally donât know any good spoiled never punished male. If you donât punish them they wonât know raping and hurting girls is wrong. And thatâs the problem with society today too many girls getting beat and not enough males getting the same treatment
Do you have any evidence that boys who were beaten by their parents have a lower chance of becoming rapists? Like, any evidence at all?Â
Because we know that there is a correlation between being spanked as a child and committing dating violence.  Though I havenât seen any studies that look at the relationship between physical punishment as a child and sexual assault specifically.Â
. . . If you donât punish them they wonât know raping and hurting girls is wrong.
Umm you just like fucking teach them ethical behavior???? like regular teaching???
