(Also Note I'm not blaming The writer (Brombal Tate) here because he exposed last few months ago that he was just given orders by Editorial to write this, the complaint is more on those editors and people who keeps pushing this narrative everywhere)

‎"Kory hasn't done anything outside the Teen Titans. She's stuck with them."

‎Kory has worked with plenty of teams and characters outside the Titans. She's been involved with the others like REBELS, the Justice League of America, Generation Forged, Animal Man, Justice League Odyssey, Justice Society, Alien Alliance and even served as a mentor to Jaime Reyes in a different city, etc. The claim that she's never existed beyond the Titans comics simply isn't true.

‎"The Titans need to move on from each other. The team is holding the characters back."

‎Then why is this standard only applied to the Titans?

‎The Justice League constantly revolves around the same popular core members: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and the rest of its iconic roster.

‎The X-Men repeatedly return to Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Wolverine and other long standing members.

‎The Batfamily continues to center around Bruce, Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian, Barbara, and the same familiar cast.

‎People even complain whenever Barbara is not included in new Birds of Prey content.

‎Yet when it comes to the Titans, suddenly people insist the core members need to be separated from one another. Why is "moving on" only considered necessary when discussing Kory and the Titans?

Yes I want Kory to have her own solo journeys again but I don't like the hypocrisy and double standard being applied along the way.

Keep in mind that the same people saying this are fine with Dick being chained to Barbara and the Batfamily. Even in his solo, his Girlfriend must be the BAT-girl and in The multiverse where he's supposed to have different relationships he's required to come back to Barbara, be dragged back to Gotham and serve Batfamily stories all over again. Of all characters they do this to the person who became Nightwing to move out of Batman's shadow.

Kory must move on from Dick, but Dick can’t move on from Barbara? I mean He did originally but they undid all that character development he had and retconned him to pine for her forever, even went as far as making him cheat on other women for Barbara even when her relationship with her is the fakest thing ever because realistically, people don’t always marry their childhood sweetheart.

Character regression from DickBabs is promoted but anything remotely related to Dickkory gets shunned? Lmao

If we’re worried about women being defined by men, Barbara should be part of that talk. Comics literally deaged her to be Dick's gf even when she was originally created to be a congresswoman while he was a minor then nicknamed her “Girl Nightwing” , and made her waste decades following Dick around like a dog in his solo and countless Elseworld books. We’re supposed to tolerate a massive amount of Dickbabs content reducing Barbara to just his trophy GF and extension even to this day, but Kory near Dick is a “moral crime.” 😅

Really funny how this "move on" argument is only applied to the woman they don't ship dick with. 😅

‎And It's so ironic. Starfire and Dick have already been separated for 30 years right? Long before Tate's few panels of them, their interactions were kept to a minimum to strengthen Dick's relationship with Barbara. So what more do these people want? How much seperation is enough for them 100+ years? Kory could disappear and die in the comics and they'd still Complain about her connections to Dick and the Titans. 😅

‎Even if Kory continues returning to the Titans, so what? why is that automatically a bad thing? They're her closest friends and her support system and basically became her family and sanctuary. That's completely normal. People leave home to work then come back to their family after work. It doesn't need to have a negative meaning.

‎will DC ever have the courage to also say Dick returning to the Batfamily is bad for his character too? 😅

Here are my thoughts about NTT Dickkory:

They weren't a perfect couple. They had fights and misunderstandings like any other couple but they worked through their issues and helped fix each other.

Because of Kory, Dick stopped putting up walls. She taught him not to overwork himself, to be more open, to stop repressing his emotions and to understand that life offers much more than a job and responsibilities. She helped stopped him from turning into Batman 2.0.

At the same time, Dick kept Kory from becoming a murderer like her enemies. Kory learned to stop being reckless with her powers. He taught her mercy and patience.

Some people complain and say that Dick disrespected Kory’s culture but I disagree. Dick cared about Kory enough to correct her when she was wrong. Think about it: if someone you love told you , “I want to kill my bully tomorrow,” would you say yes??? If you truly love them, you wouldn’t agree even if killing felt justified. You’d stop them because you know it’s morally wrong to take another person's life and you don't want your loved one to go to jail.

Another thing: it’s also like if you came from a communist country and then decided to move to a democratic one. You don’t demand that the new country follow communist laws. You adjust. That’s what Kory learned. Just because killing was okay on Tamaran doesn’t mean it’s okay on Earth. Remember, Dick was one of the people who taught Kory about Earth and helped her adjust to it as an immigrant, so of course he’d also teach her about human laws along the way so she wouldn’t get herself into trouble.

And about the marriage of state, Dick was upset at first, because of course, who wouldn’t be upset if the partner you're deeply in love with, who you thought was only going to be yours, was actually going to marry someone else? But he eventually learned to accept that a political Tamaranean marriage doesn’t hold any validity on Earth.

Throughout the entire NTT run, you will see Dick and Kory already resolved the issue about Batman, Killing and her Political Marriage with Karass.

I don’t think Dick had any intention of disrespecting Kory’s culture. He only disagreed when it came to things that affect the law. Outside of that, he embraced and loved the parts of her that were Tamaranean. He loved how open and free she was with her emotions. He literally said that’s what made him fall for her. He loved how joyful she was despite everything she’d suffered, and how different she was from Batman.

Their relationship wasn’t just about love. It was about growth and compromise. It reminded people that you have to correct each other, too. If you see your partner doing something wrong, you don’t enable it. You help each other figure out what’s right and what’s not. Kory taught Dick that it’s not okay to isolate himself and Dick taught Kory that it’s not okay to choose violence.

Kory opens him up, while Dick grounds her. They both challenge each other to be better.

Because of this, they could’ve overcome anything, even the Mirage incident and Raven’s disastrous wedding. I honestly think the only thing that broke them up wasn’t each other but the editors. We know they were originally going to get married through Art Thibert’s planned Nightwing series at the time, and Marv even approved of the idea, but it was canceled because of editorial decisions, so it was rewritten into a disastrous wedding. That’s why I think Kory victim-blaming Dick in New Titans #99 was out of character. I believe it wasn’t supposed to happen originally because, prior to #99, Dick and Kory had already resolved the Mirage incident. In New Titans #95, they planned revenge on Mirage for what she did to both of them (deceiving Dick into sleeping with her and exploiting Kory’s image). Later, Kory even felt bad for Mirage despite everything she’d done.

After they got revenge, Dick and Kory seemed to have fully moved on from Mirage. They were enjoying each other’s company and laughing together again. They even celebrated when Dick could finally go out with Kory publicly without disguising himself. Nothing in those issues suggested that Kory was holding a grudge against Dick or that the Mirage incident was an unresolved issue in their relationship.

There’s also Titans Sell-Out Special, which came out before #99. It included a promotional cover for Art Thibert’s Nightwing series that was supposed to launch after New Titans #100. In that book, Mirage went on vacation with them and even though Mirage joined them, Kory wasn’t mad at Dick at all. She was happy and smiling with him. They were even kissing. That implies DC was still planning for them to have a successful marriage at that point.

That’s why Kory’s reaction in #99 feels out of place to me. She suddenly gets angry at Dick again over the Mirage incident, even though in the previous issues she appeared to have already moved past it.

So I think the original wedding plan was canceled sometime between New Titans #95 and #99. The story was altered to make the Mirage incident their conflict again and that conflict led to the “marrying for the wrong reason” wedding and the “Raven possessing Starfire” storyline, which was then used as a reason to progressively break them up in the process because Dick had to be pulled out of the Titans books so he could move back to the Bat-editorial group who didn’t want him dating a superpowered character in their books.

Overall, what I will say to the haters of NTT Dickkory is that you can find DickKory unhealthy, that’s your own interpretation but you cannot say that their entire history was just a teenage fling. They dated for a decade (1980–1994).

You can say Kory wasn’t the best partner for Dick and vice versa, but you cannot deny that they were genuinely in love with each other when they were together.

You can dislike Dickkory. It’s your personal preference, but you cannot say Kory was just the “disposable slutty alien” to Dick. Dick’s entire characterization in NTT contradicts that made up claim.

You can prefer Dick with someone else and vice versa, but you can’t ignore the fact that Dick and Kory were an important part of each other’s histories and that shouldn't be ignored.

You can prefer Dick with Barbara but you cannot say Barbara was the one and only woman he genuinely loved.

And you cannot say Dickbabs is much healthier. NTT Dickkory only had 3 fights while there are literally 10+ panels of Dickbabs fighting and abusing each other.

Real comicbook readers with media literacy know that DickBabs' entire history in the comics is soaked in manipulative pedophilia, child grooming, misogyny, slutshaming, racism, xenophobia, cheating and straight up character assassinations.

If you’re actually a Dick fan and a Babs fan, you’d know how much the characters suffer whenever DC forces them together.

The only people who defend DickBabs are those ignorant and egostistical shippers who don’t care about the characters as individuals. I'm sorry, but Barbara’s words don’t match her actions when she wasted six years chasing Dick around like a dog in his solo. One sudden “damage control” line doesn’t erase that 😅

Also, this was another annoying moment to read in his own book. “It’s why we work so well together” another corny fanfic-style dialogue. Anyway, who even cares? I’m paying to focus reading about Nightwing, not watch Barbara waste another page seeking attention.

And lol she's already in jail but she still wants to find some way to reach out to Dick. She could have called her father instead but she chose to call her bf, doesn't that still make her look clingy and obsessed with Dick. Okay, so DickBabs shippers were so mad about New Titans #33 and #34. They weren’t the only group who had issue with it but they were definitely the loudest. They made multiple discourse about it, especially on Twitter, acting like the most offended moralists around.

They said Kory sexually assaulted Dick when they kissed, even though both Dick and Kory were under the influence of coffee. They called it non-con SA and said Dick was victim-blamed even though Kory got victim-blamed too, especially by Dickbabs shippers.

Their reaction is so hypocritical and ironic considering DickBabs is rooted on Pedophilia, Child Exploitation, Grooming, Voyeurism and SA and I've seen many of them Romantize all of them for years.

They forgot that in 2017, Barbara did the very same thing they accused Kory of doing.

Barbara initiated a non-consensual kiss on Dick, and he literally had to stop her and reject her advances. I guess hers was worse since you never saw Dick rejecting Kory’s kiss in those issues, which is why Barbara is the one that counts as non-consensual Sexual Assault. In this story, Dick and Defacer had just broken up, and he clearly wasn’t okay. He was depressed because he was still in love with Defacer, but what did Barbara do? She immediately tried to make a move on him and forcibly kissed him.

She even put her arm on his neck to add pressure and make him deepen the kiss 💀💀 she's literally making him move against his own will and forcing herself on him.

Like… how is that okay? It’s so inconsiderate and selfish of her. She doesn’t even care that he needs space and time to grieve from a break up and that he still has feelings for another woman. She’s ready to manipulate him into getting with her the second she finds out he's no longer with another woman, even asking him to stay in the same bed even when he's clearly unwillingly to like she's so desperate and thirsty

And you know another funny thing? DickBabs shippers said that Titans #34 victim-blamed Dick, but the Dickbabs writer victim-blamed Dick here too. They had him apologize, saying that both he and Barbara “weren’t thinking,” even though Barbara was the only one who initiated the kiss 😭

And the fact they weren't even dating here... This is how Barbara treated a character who's canonically an SA survivor. The complete lack of respect and basic decency, the insensitivity, the double standard is Ugh.

And the other totally fine SA they give a pass like Barbara trespassing in Dick’s own house, installing cameras all over his private space, to sexually oogle at his naked body without his consent that’s creepy and awful as hell. That's visual r*pe on Dick right there but you sickos love it since it's Dickbabs. 😡

Dick first became Nightwing in 1984 without Barbara’s involvement and during that period, it was Kory he consistently credited for supporting him through that transition, all the way up to the mid-90s.

DickKory writers (Marv Wolfman and George Perez) created Nightwing, Dickbabs had nothing to do with that.

And Barbara became Oracle in 1988 without Dick by her side, he was off with the Titans, away from Gotham and was with Kory the whole time. It was originally Bruce who stayed by Barbara's bedside after she got shot not Dick. Dick never interacted with Barbara from 1980-1994. They weren't that close. They only teamed up once or twice in 1970 when he was robin and after that, they moved on and outgrew each other and never interacted again.

It wasn’t until around 1995-1997, when Dick was reintegrated into the Bat-editorial sphere, that their history began to be rewritten, now retcons made it look like Dick was at Barbara's bedside after she got shot or that Dick can't function on his own as Nightwing without her help.

Every panel Dickbabs shippers use to back their argument is basically a retcon, patchwork storytelling dressed up as “history,” then presented like it was always planned that way. Smh.

Now there’s another writer, Layman, who wrote Titans prior to Tate who confessed in a fan interview that he prefers Kory with Dick, and that he originally wanted to bring their daughter Nightstar from Kingdom Come.

First Tim Sheridan, Jonboy Meyers, Tate, and now Layman, huh?

If you still think that Dickkory not interacting that much for decades and DickBabs being shoved down people’s throats 24/7 isn’t an editorial mandate, then you’re turning a blind eye to what’s really going on behind the scenes.

I previously shared a theory about why the writer chose to include that kiss and then, sure enough, he did an AMA. Someone asked him about DickKory and his response kinda confirmed my theory

So yeah, this pretty much confirms it, the reason DickKory hasn’t been a couple for the past 30 years, and why they’ve rarely interacted, is because of editorial decisions. It’s not because Kory “doesn’t work” as a love interest in Dick’s solo stories, not because he loves Barbara more, and not because they’ve outgrown each other or any of those other BS excuses.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to editorial decisions and DC politics. (And their xenophobia towards Kory and women outside of Gotham and the Batfamily 🙄)

This also confirms that there are writers at DC who genuinely want to bring DickKory back. Similar to what happened with Tate, he clearly wanted to write them as a proper romantic pairing without unnecessary drama or undermining but couldn’t because of the restrictions he had to follow.

As we know, Dick is under the control of the Bat-editorial while Kory falls under Titans editorial.
