What Natural Hair products taught me about Supply and Demand
I was at Target in Cedar Hill and I noticed how big the ethnic hair care section was. I stopped and stared. The section in Target was not this large before I left for school, and the section in Lubbock isn’t this large.
This was what I remembered not too…

CNN's Black In America
CNN’s special “Black In America” aired tonight! I really enjoyed , but once I got on Tumblr I saw some of the negative feedback people were saying about the piece.
The piece in my opinion really was about how these individuals identified themselves and…

The issue of diversity in the advertising has been mostly an internal (industry only) conversation. The fact that minorities are grossly underrepresented in the multibillion dollar industry that, as consumers, they contribute to greatly, has been an ongoing conversation since the '60s. There are several factors that add to the fact that 15% of the ad industry are people of color, while our country's minority population is 37%. One of those factors is the lack of exposure to this issue as well as the limited exposure to the jobs that are available in this industry (and there are jobs available, PLENTY). Our goal is to spread awareness about this issue, as well as solutions that are available. We need your support to Thunder Clap this issue. If you can give one thing this holiday season, please lend your support to this effort. We need 250 people to make their voices heard about this effort. Recently CNN covered our story, while we were participating in The One Club Creative Boot Camp in Atlanta at Morehouse College. Our hope is that by sharing this story, more people will be inspired to take action by doing one of the following:
Share the story and the issue with friends, co-workers and family.
Follow us on Twitter (https://www.Twitter.com/MGProject) and/or like our Facebook Page (http://www.facebook.com/MGProject)
Consider making a donation to support our efforts (http://www.marcusgrahamproject.org)
Write to your favorite brand and encourage them to ensure that their ad agency staff is more reflective of the country's diverse population
Back in February of 2000 (that’s right, about 11 years ago when certain members of your Planning Pit were a mere 17 years old) Mr. Clifford Franklin had an intiguing opinion perice in AdAge. He was talking about how Black History Month feels like a special “section of the media plan” where...
"Creative Class"
Starting Point
I'm graduating soon, and I think I've narrowed it down to what I would like to do.
Marketing obviously, but I'd like to do Multicultural Marketing. Unfortunately I'm not quite sure where to start. I've gotten the experience side down most of my marketing experience in college has been dedicated to youth markets and multi-ethnic students.
I just need a good company with some entry level openings, that's not in NY. I'm too poor to fly out there for an interview and miss school. :(

Do you think the media is focusing too much on Olympians personal lives?
"I know I can’t be the only one who is exasperated by the scrutiny the athletes have been under. The most irrelevant things have been highlighted this year at the Olympics. Topics like: Gabby Douglas’ hair, Lori (Lolo) Jones and her virginity, Serena’s victory dance, Ryan Lochte’s love life and grill. Last night on Entertainment Tonight they even posted a break down of Natalie Hawkins’ (Gabby’s Mom) DEBT from her student loans to her T-mobile phone bill. They also spoke about Ryan Lochte’s mom facing foreclosure! Even when McKayla Maroney didn’t hug her Russian competitor Sandra Raluca Izbasa she was blasted for being “fake” and had to take to her twitter page to defend her sportsmanship"

Check out this free guide from Likeable Media. It has a lot of really great tips in it!
Some say social media has no set rules, but it’s hardly a place where anything goes. Like cell phone use in public, most of us know we shouldn’t have a mobile device switched on at, say, a funeral (let alone use or answer it). And yet, it still happens. Here is a very unscientific...
