Anyone else ever wondered Leon getting called out on such top-secret missions ever reminds Ethan of Mia getting called out for extended periods of time?
I'm sure he missed her a lot, but he wasn't as anxious before. He didn't know what was really going on back then. Now he does. He knows exactly what kind of work Leon does. It feels too familiar and much worse.
Would Leon at least share where he's going? I'm not sure yet. On the one hand, communication with your partner. On the other, he is probably not supposed to tell anyone, and telling Ethan might directly lead to that man showing up in the middle of nowhere... wearing his business casual work clothes. One handgun and a box of bullets, maybe a knife if we're lucky.
If Leon is ever home a day late, that feeling is going to be awful. Hopefully he never disappears like Mia did.
*I* think Leon would say fuck the rules and inform Ethan he’s alive anyway.
I mean, he’d probably be thinking something along the lines of, “the DSO and American Government owe me everything.” And “how old am I?” To have to follow rules to a T. Like, look at the CGI movies, lol.
But it’s like how a permanently annoyed teenager is on their phone, on the clock, at a shitty job—Leon thumbs up and interacts with Ethan’s text messages.
I don’t think he *responds* too much. But he sends a heart or emoji.
I think he sends a smiley face a lot: :)
And sometimes Leon goes dark and I think that’s when Ethan has an issue.
More like sensible panic.
But Ethan has the utmost trust in Leon’s abilities—in a CHOICE of naivety, I think he chooses to believe Leon will always survive a mission.
And I think further into their relationship Ethan would come to terms with the fact that Mia had a hard time coming back from things. And she was a pathological liar for her survival, which is so fair. It wasn’t *her* fault she developed those traits and issues, she also just wouldn’t put the effort in to help herself through it which IS her fault.
—not to say that avoidance could never be truly “fixed.” Sometimes anyone struggling with it would need a “I’m running away and telling no one,” to fix their equilibrium. But there should be conversations and failsafes in place for those occasions WITH their partner and loved ones.
Which, I don’t think Mia Winters would do that. I also don’t think Mia Winters would like therapy at all, she’s someone who would believe she could win therapy, but that’s a headcanon.
Idk. I’m a chud and believe Lethan are healthy even when Leon has similar lapses of avoidance.
Leon just always comes back. It’s ingrained in him.
Like cat.
Yes yes yes, I am snatching up this idea. Leon would absolutely respond that way.
Ethan would have a few road bumps. He used to get full on video messages from Mia, after all. However, there is something strangely honest in a response to "Not dead yet?" being a little thumbs up. I do think Leon is a goober sometimes though.
"Still able to be home for dinner tomorrow?"
"As soon as I get off the menu, yes."
"Goddamnit. Don't get eaten. Love you"
"<3 :)"
This works super great until Leon gets his jacket snatched again, and the phone drops straight into a river. He's got Ethan's number memorized, though. So now he just has to find a still working phone in the middle of nowhere. His options to search are secret labs, infected people's pockets, and random abandoned houses. Good luck. You have 24 hours until the mold-man shows up, Leon.
