They attempted to push themselves up. Maybe try and dodge whatever else Sans had planned. But they couldn’t. And even if they could - this was new. Sans had the strongest attacks. The most unpredictable. It was useless trying to fight back.
They only just managed to catch a glimpse of how many Gaster Blasters appeared. Having next to no time to prepare themselves, all they could do was stay there and take it.
And it hurt. It hurt more than before. It hurt more than.. those deaths they had gone through. A hand stayed clutching at their chest, as they purposefully had to concentrate on not making a sound. It worked for the most part, but as it progressed, they couldn’t help the odd noise that escaped from them. Their eyes were wide open, and by the end of it, they were even crying.
They closed their eyes and turned their head away from Sans when he began speaking again, just wanting to tune him out. But they knew it was a bad idea. So they listened, biting their tongue as their bottom lip trembled a bit. Thank god he couldn’t see them properly.
They didn’t trust him. But he had no reason to hurt Frisk.. right? They blinked, a fresh tears dripping onto the ground as they opened their eyes. They took a shaken breath, and very slowly - very weakly - began to push themselves up.
They called out to Frisk in their mind. But there was no response.
“…Fine.” They whispered. Very quietly. They called out again. Still no response. They tightened their fists. “…”
They turned, wiping their cheeks as they looked towards Sans again. They were very obviously shaken.
“…B-Both of us have to agree. To reset before LV16, to switch places– th-they’re not answering me. I-If I leave now and Frisk doesn’t take control, it might end up killing them.” Or at least, put them in a coma.
F; ‘You have to really want it too, Chara.’
Chara’s eyes widened a little, as they looked away from Sans.
F; ‘You’re afraid. You’re more afraid of what might happen if you let go than whatever Sans wants to do to us… But I guess that’s an improvement on your emotions.’
C; ‘Then just switch places. He won’t hurt you.’
F; ‘…’ Frisk seemed to hesitate. ‘Fine.’
As Chara retreated inside of them, Frisk more intently felt the pain that the blasters had left on them. They began to cough, a hand moving over their stomach as they leaned back, a hand moving to the side of their head. They were disorientated. They were in pain. How.. had Chara coped?
Oh. They had been crying. Maybe they hadn’t…
Frisk seemed different in their motions. Their aura was calmer, and overall - they were giving off a warm vibe, as opposed to the cold one Chara had set. They hugged themselves tight, and after a few moments of attempting to get themselves together, they finally peered up towards Sans. Because of course. They were scared of him too.
“…” This hadn’t happened before. They were now in control during the genocide route. “Sans…” Their voice was softer than Chara’s. In a moment, they realised that they were covered on dust. Eyes widening, they looked down at their hands, before stilling in their spot. “…” Papyrus, Toriel… all of them. A wave of nausea overcame them. “S-Sans-?” And guilt. They wrapped their hand around their stomach, leaning forward as they attempted to stop the tears from sliding down their face. “Sans I- I’m so sorry.”
