They still felt… guilty, over what they did to that other version of them. Who wouldn’t? They’d been avoiding their Папа for at least a week. They aren’t good at keeping secrets, and they don’t want to disappoint their Папа, who told them not to kill alternate versions of themself. But they did. They failed.
So that brought them out to the cold Siberian forests again. This world doesn’t have HYDRA. They refuse to go to Marvel timelines with them again. They couldn’t afford to kill more innocents. And sure, they themself aren’t innocent, and any version of themself isn’t innocent, but it still felt… odd. To kill a version of themself.
To look, and to see what they would look like dead.
To see their own lifeless eyes, see the face they sometimes stared at in the mirror, comparing it to their - fathers - The Winter Soldier’s, trying to find any traits that they could’ve gotten from their mother. To only see an abyss.
Along with the fact that maybe it proved something about them. They are exactly what HYDRA wanted. The organization had made them, had molded them, had brought them into existence… maybe something subconscious had made them ignore their magical capabilities that could have potentially ended the fight without any mortality. Maybe something subconscious wanted to be cruel, wanted to kill that version of themself. They ignore the fact that it was out of self defense, of course.
They shake their head, as if that would help them clear these thought. As if it could let them get rid of the image of that body, slowly going cold, so familiar. Only then had they seen a face like theirs look so similar to their mother.
They were wearing many layers, so the cold couldn’t come sharp against their skin. They hadn’t slept in nights, weeks, really, too scared to see that version of their face. All of the other faces, their mother, their siblings, anyone, again. They’d just picked a direction and walked, absentmindedly, letting their subconscious keep them out of the way of trees or other obstacles. They hadn’t come across a tree for a bit, which was odd.
It probably didn’t matter. They kept walking.
It didn’t matter until they heard cracking under them. Their eyes widen, they look beneath their feet, hearing more cracking, until ice broke beneath them and they plunged into an abyss of cold.

The first thing they register is the cold. Their limbs going into shock, stiff and freezing.
The second thing they notice is how dark it is, how nothing around them really registers.
It’s so cold. They need to get out of the cold.
They register how distorted the sounds around them are, how they can’t smell anything. Their clothes, the layers, steadily dragging them deeper and deeper into the cold.
The tightness in their chest. Like they can’t breath like oxygen has been forcibly ripped from them-
It’s so cold. It’s like cryofreeze. They can feel their lungs not taking in air, their brain slowly getting slower, loopier, like when you’re slowly falling asleep and can’t really escape it.
It’s peaceful, if it weren’t for the cold. Of course, they’re starting to feel numb anyways. So, peaceful.
