You never know how sick you are until you try to recover.

A lot of people think that in order to let go of a person and to move on you have to forget. You have to carefully loosen your grip on the memories, untangle your fingers and slowly forget the colour of their eyes or the lines to their favourite song. You have to act like they never walked alongside you, like they never made your heart beat faster or your chest tighten. You think you have to burn their photos, delete their messages and erase every trace they left behind. But you don’t. You can let go and still remember. You can move on and still keep the memories close to your heart. It’s the way you remember them that’s important. Can you think of them with a smile on your face and accept that there’s no returning or do you give in to the sadness that grips your heart and twists, searching for a way to go back?
