hey beautiful !! people who receive support from their families are actually very lucky. I went through a similar experience when I was younger. my father is a very toxic person in general. he bullied me and my family a lot. I was lucky that my parents divorced when I was 16. after months of therapy I found my father was the root cause of my anxiety and depression problems. honestly, being away from that toxicity was the best thing that ever happened to me even though it hurt at first.

I am very concerned. I see that you’re young, and in a very tough position. you are definitely right about needing space from that environment. shelter is a very important and basic human need, and it’s unfortunately not easy to find.

• try to give yourself personal space when you’re still at home but please put your safety first. sometimes distance can cause parents to hover. 

• research treatment facilities in your area. you may find free support programs to attend. this is a great way to focus on your mental health and get some time away from home.

• ask close friends and extended family members if you can stay with them for a bit. offer to pitch in on some household chores during your stay. 

• check for free women’s housing in your area if you find yourself in need. I honestly don’t recommend checking into a public shelter for your own safety.

• all-night diners and restaurants are another way to kill time, and possibly enjoy an extra long meal or hot drink.

• it can be hard to find food if you’re low on funds. some churches give out food to those in need. the best way to find places like these is to search “food for homeless ____“ with your city name.

• if you’re in desperate need for a shelter asap, hostels cost approximately 20-30$ a night for a dorm bed. motels can be anywhere from 25-75$ a night for a room depending on the area.

it’s more than okay for you to reach out for help during this time. it’s not easy, but it will be worth it. I haven’t found too many quotes relating to toxicity and family, but these relationship quotes apply to everyone in your life:

“you are allowed to terminate toxic relationships. you are allowed to walk away from people who hurt you. you are allowed to be selfish, angry, and unforgiving. you don’t owe anyone an explanation for taking care of yourself.”
