yeah I feel like a lot of info about 4s really fails to bring to light one of the roots of 4's individualism-- it's not just about feeling identityless and "becoming ourselves", a lot of it stems from 4s self hatred, the feeling that if they are not unique, if they have nothing that sets them apart, then no one will want them. one of 4's core fears is abandonment, and 4's feel this is inevitable unless they are special enough to be worth keeping. the self absorption is more of an obsessive focus on becoming good enough to meet their impossibly high internal standards than it is about "wow look at this excellent personality I've created, this is great"
