hedwig looks like such a fun and feel-good musical (which it is at times) on the surface but then you watch it and realize its so much more than that and what the fuck i didnt sign up for these emotions

There aren’t even words.

I spent a week in NYC for work and was lucky enough to go up early to see Darren’s last performance as Hedwig on Sunday. A friend of mine agreed to go with me because she had just moved to New York and hadn’t seen a Broadway show.

Afterwards, we had dinner and then parted, and on my way back to the hotel I decided to swing by the theater again, because why not? Maybe Darren hadn’t left yet and I could get a glimpse of him.

So lucky that I did because not even 10 minutes later, he came out, hopped on the car and gave the most heartfelt thank you to his fans who were there (and there were so many people there).

It was hard to hear him, and even harder in the video that I got on my phone (I won’t post it), so I’m really thankful to everyone who’s posted their videos!

I have been waiting for nearly five years to see Darren Criss perform live and had several missed opportunities, but I finally got to see him on Broadway, then later only feet away, standing on an SUV, speaking directly to me and the other devoted fans who were there.

Thank you, Darren. I’m so proud of you.

Okay so I finally listened to the final Hedwig audio on the way home from work today...

HOLY FUCKING SHIT. Ya’ll know Origin Of Love is my favorite song in the history of the entire freaking world. Like tattoo worthy favorite song which is a big freaking deal to me. When I saw Darren in Hedwig that first night, it was the first time I saw it live since 2010, so I was SO excited. I warned the woman that I was talking to that was seated next to me that if Im going to loose my shit during Hedwig, its gonna be during that song. Fast forward to when its actually happening in front of my face, the lady had to reach over and grab my hand because she said I looked like I was about to pass out I was crying so hard. That was a moment, to say the least, and the emotion from that carried through the rest of the show (hence, when I told Darren I cried the entire show- I meant it.) Anyway, so Im listening to the final audio and preparing myself for my song coming up and it starts and Im air drumming on my dashboard and rocking along to it (HE SOUNDED SO GOOD!) and then the music dies down and the soft whisper of “The last time I saw you.. We had just split in two.” And I stopped breathing. The energy of the Belasco was so tangible in my car by the time the song ended my shirt was soaked with the tears streaming down my face. I just kept whispering “holy shit holy shit holy shit” because like DAMN. Bra-freakin-vo Darren. You destroyed me.
