Across the Vanishing Sky
Raphael put his hand out for Sasuga's once they were on the road, and he didn't let go the whole time they were on the road, it was nearly an hour before they made it to Rupert's house and Raphael reminded her numerous times on the way to behave, that it might not go well, and to check any expectations she might have before they arrived. The driveway appeared to be long and winding, like any of them leading to Shishi's house or the temple in the forest, but this one was fenced off and gated. Raphael rolled his window down as he drove up to a call box, and he pressed a number and waited for a response After a short moment a voice came through. "Leave the car and proceed." The gates opened enough for them to walk through themselves, but not to drive through. Raphael sighed a bit to himself, rolled up the window, and unbuckled. He leaned back over to Sasuga. "Kiss for luck." he said softly and stole gently lingering one from her before he slid from the driver's seat and moved to open her door offering his hand to help her out.
She bowed her head a bit. “Thanks. I’ll grab it before we leave. My wolf is about the same as he was yesterday but I ran him a bath and added plenty of oils and herbs to the water for him so hopefully he can soak and it will ease some of his soreness.” She offered with a smile. “And no I don’t know whatever choice he has made about the offer so don’t even ask.” She eyed him.

Sasuga leaned down and kissed him before tugging her hoodie back up. “I won’t be too chatty but Gaultier might if he gets to talk with Shishi.” She shrugged. “Still, I’ll try to come back quickly.” She assured him and slipped out the door again and headed down to the area the fox was eating.
It didn’t take her long to weave her way through other demons and find Gaultier eating his waffle. She hadn’t eaten yet and though she felt starved in several ways, she didn’t want to hold them up at all. “Hey.. almost ready to head out?” She offered, shrinking into her clothes a bit more in hopes of avoiding any comments about last night.

“Okay.” She agreed, thinking that made perfect sense and scolding herself for not thinking about him using the plants. “I’ll be right back.” She offered as she headed off to the bathroom and started the water. A quick search proved she had been right when she assumed Echo had left some oils and herbs to soothe soreness and she was quick to add them to the water and move everything around for easy reach for him before she moved back out to his side. “Okay. It’s filling up and I already added some stuff to it for you.” She smiled.

She paused. “Do you think you can get yourself in and out of it safely? I don’t want you getting stuck in there for the rest of the day.” She explained but wheeled the chair up by the side of the bed anyway.

She rolled her eyes a bit at this. “Okay. I’ll be back shortly.” She offered and slipped into the elevator and headed back up to the room. She wasted no time in heading in and sighing.
“Hey.” She offered a smile as she spotted Raphael sitting up in the bed. “Gaultier is having a quick breakfast but at least I know where he is.” She informed him as she walked over and offered him a quick kiss. “Did you need anything before I’m gone for the day?”

She nodded easily at this. “That would be nice.” She said politely.
Running into Gaultier was a pleasant surprise as had expected him to be later than this. “Okay. Do you want to meet me up at the room? I had promised Raphael I’d go back up before I head out.” She offered, antsy and still feeling awkward about the interaction with the bear.

She hesitated at this but eventually shook her head, feeling as though she had too many reason to not move forward on the idea. “I’m sorry but I have to decline. I am not sure I will even still be here by then. My boyfriend is up in my room very injured as well.” She offered as explanation. “And I am about to head out to the human world and depending on that call and if my boyfriend is healed by tonight, we might leave.” Though this was only a small part of the reason as she also felt as if he was just trying to be nice to her given that he now knew her mate was missing and she felt he was doing this out of pity if not an apology. If even that wasn’t the case at all, she just felt it would only lead to more humiliation and she couldn’t even bring herself to wear something nice right now.
She nodded but tried not to get her hopes up. “Please contact me or any of the numbers on the flier if you remember where you saw him last. Thank you.” She offered with another bow. “But I need to look for Gaultier now. Farewell.” She offered and once more excused herself to start looking for the fox that would probably be late even as she wondered off toward the elevator.

“It’s not your fault, I’m just no good at that sort of thing but Gaultier didn’t believe me.” She shrugged. His request gave her pause and she clearly seemed confused before she seemed to realize what was going on. She bowed slightly before standing straight again. “I appreciate the offer but really you don’t need to feel bad about last night. It was all on me and my awkwardness.”
She paused and regarded his face. “Have you seen him in the last 6 months? That’s how long he has been missing.” She asked and took a hesitant step forward. “Or do you remember him from last year when he was here with me?”

She shook her head and rubbed a hand across her face which she was still trying to hide with the hood. “I was ..trying to flirt but Gaultier didn’t believe me when I told him I have absolutely no talent when it comes to the art of seduction. Sorry. He won’t be doubting me again on that subject, I can promise you that much.” She mumbled , not taking him serious when he called her beautiful, feeling as though he just felt bad for her situation. She handed him one of the fliers she had kept and gave a little bow of her head. “Thank you. Excuse me, I really should be off.” Clearly trying to dismiss herself from the situation completely.

She nearly winced as he called after her, not wanting any more reminders of how badly she struck out. Part of her thought to keep walking and just ignore him completely but she couldn’t bring herself to be that rude to somebody. She sighed heavily and paused before turning back to face him. “Don’t worry about it. You did nothing wrong.” She offered hurriedly. “Gaultier was pushing the entire thing and he knew. Besides it wouldn’t have changed the outcome any.” She shrugged, knowing he still would have left because of what she said.

She waved her hand at this. “I don’t want to get back into this conversation please.”
She pulled it back up. “I just wanna hide in this, okay? I’ll pull it off for the conference but I want it up for now.” She explained.
Sasuga headed down the little hall and into the elevator, leaning heavily against the wall as it lowered to the main floor. She stepped out of the elevator and lowered her head instantly, not wanting anybody to spot her if she could help it and started her way toward the conference room she had only been in once before. That last time she had been the champion and Echo had sent his guards to quiz her and thankfully she had passed but now she was going in as a looser looking her worst even if she wasn’t busted up from fighting. She groaned to herself but as she found her way she was thankful nobody had stopped her.
As promised, she pulled her hood down in front of the cameras though her hair was now a mess and while the staff offered to slick it back, she shooed them away figuring it wouldn’t make any difference anyway. There were questions asked and she shot the all down unless they were about her forfeiting her title, simply explaining the situation with her mate over and over and holding up the fliers she had brought with her. She pleaded softly with anyone and everyone to bring her any news of her mate. That is all she cared about and that she wouldn’t be returning to fighting until she found him though she did bring up the possibility of going on tour with Blake as she had reached out to him in hopes of spreading the word about her mate even further.
The conference was over fairly quickly as she wasn’t giving any talk of fighting or fighters she was betting on, refusing to talk of anything other than Coyote. She thanked everyone, left the fliers on the table to be handed out, and slipped away.
She was nearly to the door when she spotted the bear from the bar and she groaned “Damn my luck.” She hissed under her breath and pulled her hood back over her face, her tail snaking up the back of the oversized hoodie and started to give him a wide berth while still trying to slip out the door behind him.

Sasuga sat and put on her shoes. “We’ll see. Either way I’m not worried about it. I doubt he could make me feel worse about myself if he tried.” She huffed a half-hearted laugh.
She side eyed him, knowing well and good this was one of his love induced delusions because it was hard to even tell she was a girl at the moment outside of her face which only showed how mentally exhausted she was. Also there was a part of her that took the word cute as a sting still, especially when she was in heat and wanted to be seen more seductive than adorable but she knew she was neither. She pulled the hood up once her shoes were on and moved to kiss him quickly. “I love you and I’ll see you after the press conference.” Letting him know she hadn’t forgotten he asked her to come see him before she left for the portal. She stuffed her phone into the front pocket of the large hoodie and headed on out.

She formed a bit at this as she heard the small ding of the microwave and stood again. “I already told him it is your choice and not mine and you’d let him know the answer. I’d simply tell him the same thing again today if you want to tell me, but I won’t pressure you to.” She sighed and brought over his plate of food. “But if he annoys me anymore today then I’m going to tell him to just forget coming to the portal with me.” She huffed and moved to the closet to change.
A few minutes later Sasuga came back dressed in baggy pale blue, almost gray, sweats that completely hid any notion of a figure she might have had. She was pulling her hair up into a ponytail as she sighed, her tail carrying her sneakers. “Is there anything else I can get for you before I head out?”

She slipped from the bed and grabbed some of his food from yesterday which had been stashed away in the mini fridge and heated it up in the microwave. She sighed heavily at this as she grabbed him a cool bottle of water and brought it back over to him.
“I’m not Echo.” She stated. “I won’t and can’t make this choice for you. It’s not right for anybody to make this call but you. It’s your body and your emotions.” She restated her words from yesterday. “All I can do is promise you with all my heart that I won’t view you differently and that my love for you won’t change no matter what choice you make.”
