( Eve Hewson, 31, Female, she/her, witch (naturalist)). Itâs been a while since weâve seen Thera Wendell. I hear theyâre a Witch and they reside on the West/Onyx Peak. Theyâve been known as The CrowKeeper, but thatâs not all they are. (Theyâre known to associate with Naturalists, when theyâre not bus being the owner of Ravenâs Ring and the speaker of the witches for the Calamity Council. Some may say they act melancholy & honour-bound, while others claim they are loyal & kind. With that being said, theyâve found the State of Calamity. ( Elizabeth, she/her, 25, PST )

Intro
The call of witches to be protectors of the State and Guardians of the Earth is one not all follow but a duty that has been literally etched into her very being. The Wendell name, her Motherâs name, had been legend for eons, some say they descend from witches the like of Wesevich, but in an era of Calamity such bloodlines are set aside from who can be trusted. And the Wendell name has been one that has been reliable to call upon for all that time remembers.
Theraâs Father was an ambitious man and whether or not his relationship with her Mother started as one of political gain to tie himself to the age old Wendell name or love, thatâs what it had become. She was the only thing her Father would ever follow other than himself.
Thera was a happy child. Her parents were often traveling for work, pillars of their community who had to cultivate a vast network of ties to try and cultivate peace and compliance even when the age was ever so dark.
The Earth whispered to her, currents of the air tingled in her finger tips, and the first true sign that Thera would be a witch worthy of her lineage was the handful of ants she had brought home to her Mother one afternoon. The Earth struggling to heal even when at every turn. Her Father had taken the ants away in a jar crowing about his daughterâs new found affinity.
When the air had turned bad and her Mother had gotten sick, the crowing had turned into admonishmentâŚand admonishment had turned into a feral desperation. Cassandra Wendell died, and Thera would have been better off if her Father had crawled into the ground beside her. He had implored Thera to act in the way naturalists of the past had, a witch with a connection to life how could she not pull off a feat such as the witches of lore who had created werewolves and vampires, for he thought her Mother was worth this level of miracle. But this was an impossible task and when its impossibility had finally gripped him, her Father had looked inward. For what was he if not a great witch who people followed.
His magic had distorted after that, drawn to the ways of blood and what it could do for him. A distortion of the magic Thera displayed is what he clawed out of the earth and as people always did of her Father, they took notice.
The trips stopped being about peace, visitors stopped asking for favours that made sense. Her Father filled their home with a different shade of people. Thatâs when she had met them, the whisper from the shadows. (WC: The Whisperer)
On her 21st birthday Thera felt the Earth tingle in a tone she had yet to learn but she had followed it anyway. She had moved out of her Fatherâs house but could not escape his influence. His crimes were many at that point, but he still couldnât stand letting the last glimmer of light her Mother had left on this Earth walk away from him. But the tone, the tingle, had been a crying crow chick. Birds were a rare and kept thing but the Earth seemed to be handing her this wild thing as a temptation. Come out of the Shadow young Wendell She swore it whispered.
She had left after that, disappeared as if she were one of her whispers of life on the wind. She hopped around from place to place, she carried with her an uncanny knack for showing up when she was needed, and yet not always expected or wanted.
She was 26 and helping reroute a river as to better irrigation to a small village field when the news had come. Her Father had fallen. There was no body, no concrete information of how, but he was gone. His terror ended. She felt guilty for being relieved.
When the Mer call for a ceasefire had gone out Thera had been one of the first to head it and established herself in neutral territory, though she kept her home among the witches. She had been the first hand raised when a speaker was asked for. Her parents had always been leaders and Thera was going to fight to return the trust her Father had ripped to shreds back. She would not be her Fatherâs Daughter.
Headcanons
Thera was born to a naturalist lineage on her Motherâs side. The Wendellâs have been a group of information dealing and favour doers.
Theraâs FatherâŚ.Theraâs Father was a leading member of the Wiccan community and when Thera was young, he took a dip into the dark side following her Mother's death. In an attempt to bring her Mother back he started speaking with other like minded individuals and learning the ways of dark magic. He mainly focused on Blood, he had a habit of pulling the life source from people until the respect that he had earned in his early years turned to fear. While her father was eventually taken down, Thera still lives with the stain he left,
Thera became a member of the council because she felt she had a duty to the wiccan community. She often isnât sure sheâs doing it right but her door is open to anyone who needs an ear to listen
Thera struggles with the pull to the dark. While she strives to pull towards the light (her magic tends to vibe with the natural world mostly animals and crystals) she can feel the call of the life force in those around her brush her fingers at different times. She has spent her whole adult life trying to erase her fatherâs stain, she will not be her Fatherâs daughterâŚ..
Thera needs bad influences, like her Father the right person whispering into her ear could maybe cause her to latch on to the temptation of her own magic
Wanted Connections
The Whisperer- Someone who used to travel in her Father's circles but took more of an interest in Thera. Whether they were trying to influence Thera to get out from under her Father's thumb or were testing to see if she had the power to overtake him is up to you but their words left an impact on how Thera has dealt with her relationship with her own magic
When Life was Smaller- A friend from before her Mother died and her Father sought out the dark arts. Someone who maybe played with Thera outside and knew her witchy weirdness. A child hood friend.
Crow Friend- A pen pal Thera has constantly communicated over the years with through her ever growing murder of crows.
Touch the Darkness once More- An ex friend or lover who maybe comes from the morally dark to morally grey side of the spectrum. They may have been interested in Thera's life sensing and cultivating abilities but they parted ways after a time because Thera has been successful thus far about resisting her lean towards dark magic. But now they find themselves both back in Calamity
Father's Daughter- The body of Thera's Father was never found though all trace of his magic had ceased. Whether you know what happened or whether her Father found a life (or un-life) elsewhere is possible.
Counsel Friends- Thera would try and get to know the major and minor players in and around the Council, she seeks peace and is fully in support of the ceasefire
Witch Friends and Allies (and maybe some who her Father wronged)- Thera has stood up as speaker for witches and she would make an effort to get to know the surrounding community
Customers- The Raven's Ring is in neutral territory, the doors are open to anyone. Welcome to The Raven's Ring what can I do for you?
*This is just a list of ideas I will probably add to but I am down for any and all connections.
