For Chengfei, she WAS coaching vault on the national team as an assistant coach, but after 2012, Coach Lu, who was CF’s coach and also the head coach of the chinese team, was outted by coach Huang. A major excuse given by the higher ups was that overall difficulty, esp on vt and fx regressed during the 12 quad…. but then as soon as coach Lu was gone, they (essentially) fired Cheng Fei and sent her down to the local level to “train” and finish her education. (Even though with her qualifications and achievements, she could very well stay in beijing and train as a coach with the national team)

After 2013, He Kexin’s coach, coach He (who was also the coach of zeng siqi), was also “exiled” due to political infighting. Coach He was known for teaching excellent leaps and constructing the most beautifully paced beam routines, but apparently, coach Xiong didn’t like her and had beef with her. 

Again, coach He was dismissed for not “producing any results” at worlds. 

So like 6 years later, people are doing double tucks on floor and falling off beam and generally neither doing difficult routines nor performing consistently.
