it’s just so frustrating when someone can only talk about a female character in terms of what she “deserves” in a greater moral sense and never about what she wants and willingly puts herself through by means of having agency and what serves her narratively

#this is so Catarina Claes core to me #sure. she could be royalty #does she want that though?#things she does gladly: farming. being a mailman. being a waitress. cleaning the office #things she doesn't: high society #she very clearly prefers the the blue collar life. she thrives there #she likes being a worker bee rather than a queen bee #and that's not about her ability to be one #she'd be an unconventional one but a good one. maybe she'd be a good one bc she unconventional #it's about affinity #and that's what fans that say stuff like “it'd be bad if she drops in station” don't get #she's happier with the odd jobs she does in the Ministry and her farming rather than doing nobility bs #and that's not a bad thing #it's not prestigious but it's definitely not demeaning
