Whumpee lives in a constant state of sensory overload, and cannot sleep for weeks; because they can hear the clocks ticking in every house of their block, city traffic from down the street, the garbage truck beeping from five blocks away, and every cough, sneeze, baby’s cry, and human voice within a mile radius. Earplugs barely help.

The most horrible growing pains from rapid muscle development cause Whumpee to writhe in bed so much that they break things and hurt people. This scares the shit out of Caretaker, who ultimately decides to restrain them for everyone’s safety; but Caretaker gets injured in the process, but is successful. However, Whumpee becomes so strong that they manage to break through their restraints.
