Dens and Salons
though the Dreamweaver is mechanically in possession of all of the agents, story-wise they probably only engage with the honey-den/very little of the voyaging aspect of it.
the luckless zailor was the first- an act of attempted charity that led to the sudden and slightly unintentional possession of a business. he ships refugees in from Varchas, when she can arrange it.
the nectared proprietor- well, she does like to keep track of what her reflection is doing. there was a not insignificant amount of seeking (no, not that kind) in order to convince the Silent Partner that she meant no harm, but the gift of an old and well-loved dress did wonders for the building of trust.
the first honey-den was the Rat-And-Droppings, named both in honor of the ratty dreams of the whisker-ways and because the proprietor was being an ass. it was meant to be a one-off, but the ironic name was so iconic that it became a brand- leading to the opening of The Midden Heap, The Cesspit, and The Generally Unpleasant Aurochs' Pen (shortened somewhat inaccurately to the PigPen).
of course, why stop at just the management of honey-dens? she made a decent sum of echoes, sure, but her usual activities as a silverer provided more than enough money to support her lifestyle. if she was committed to bossiness, why not begin a more... personal venture?
rumors began to rebound throughout the bohemians of london- rumors of a new and exceedingly exclusive salon, available only to the least-respected and most avant-garde of artists and writers. rumors of dark-spectacled individuals promenading as if it was their first day in the neath, escorted by clay men and occasionally pursued by tigers.
they say The Ophidan Salon opens irregularly; that it's under the apparent scrutiny of the duchess, the labyrinth of tigers, and the assorted magicians and mystics of mahogany hall, and that those who attend find companions unknown elsewhere.
perhaps you ought to secure an invitation of your own...
very funny to see familiar popular old posts come by on the dash now, which you KNOW have like 100s of thousands of notes, but now it looks like apporximately 500 people have interacted with it because of how the reblog reached you. really makes tumblr look like a vibrant social hub that is doing well.
And those 100s of thousands of notes can not be viewed together anymore. They're shattered into thousands of little note bubbles and everyone can only see a fraction. They can not be in dialogue anymore. We can not go through them all and see who wrote the funniest comment. We can not see who debunked the lie in the first post. Truly an excellent way to just break all communication on this site.
The Horned Heiress, week 1:
(There are written in the perspective of the chain-breaking dreamweaver)
I found her under a bridge while doing a bit of monster hunting around the docks- shivering and alone, and utterly convinced i was there to kill her. i offered her a stay in my orphanage- and after a brief and unusually full-contact stay in my orphanage (which i found hilarious, even if the girl felt guilty about wrestling the coalman after), a new townhouse has been purchased so that she can have the space she needs. Her appetites are voracious- if i wasn’t bursting with unspent silvering payments and shares in the railroad, it might have become a bit of a problem. her name, as she tells me, is Minerva.
And False-stars above, the stories the she tells! Brawls, homelessness, poverty- it’s a practical cornucopia of london squalor, with an insensible amount of random cruelty beside it. someone's keen on making sure she's run out of every place that might become a home. broke down crying when she told me of the most recent incident, a charming young society couple who were suddenly beset by misfortune after misfortune- leaving them too destitute to care for her.
i allowed her to compose herself while i retrieved a fingerking-possessed warbler to comfort her. i have sent for my agents to scour for evidence of her benefactor- as well as pedged my help in the finding of her reported mother, who she claims is her only memory before waking up on the streets of london. there is little she has to go off of- but there is little in this city that i cannot get my hands on, eventually.

reviving this blog after a long hibernation. why? spite. but before i get to that, here are some updates about by FL character:
-finished the railroad, fully developed the hinterland city.
-is now a paramount presence, and has unlocked all highway stat cap-increases
-has unlocked agents, then more agents, and then a few more just for good measure
-now as the nickname of "The Artistic Silverer
-and many more!
anyway, i would like to announce my new OC, forcefully adopted from @city-in-the-high-pines: the Horned Heiress! do not try to stop me, wood. i will print your pathetic vineboy's secrets in the parabolan post and then send the Clay Breaker 'round with a tank of red-science weedkiller.
now, you may be asking, who is the Horned Heiress? well, i'm glad you asked. The Artistic Silverer found her wandering the streets, poor thing, with nothing but the clothes on her back and a concerning abundance of traits many would consider to be monstrous. being closest to the urchins, of course, The Artistic Silverer immediately set her up in her orphanage- and then set her up in a separate, private townhouse after she ended up wrestling the coalman.
The Artistic Silverer now acts as patron and (slightly unwilling) parental figure of the Horned Heiress as she searches for her origins, as well as helping her dodge the angry overtures of a mysterious, floral benefactor that seems hell-bend on destroying her new home.
a lesser londerer would have folded in the face of such a complex and often violent situation- but The Artistic Silverer does just love a challenge.

some stuff about the Horned Heiress that i am, as their new owner, deciding is canon:
-she loves Parabolan orange-apples- and is the only one who can eat more than like 10% of one. is learning culinary skills specifically so she can make her own recipes with it, since no one else has bothered (because, you know, it's a mostly poisonous fruit only found in parabola)
-has Gills/whatever it is you need to breath underwater in the zee. the Perforated Diver enjoys having her around, since she can pretty reliably protect against some of the lesser zee beasts
-is steadily learning the rules for the Bethic kriegsspiel, 3rd edition; really very passionate about board games in general.
-fascinated by the red science. partially because its likely now she was made, and partially because the tools that it allows to exist are so fantastic and strange; The Artistic Silverer has had to prevent her from crawling into their Devilish Holdeverything twice now, because she just so damn curious as to whats inside.
oh, and we can't forget:
-any details about the Horned Heiress given by @city-in-the-high-pines are apocryphal.

A letter arrives. It is a report from his agents. Apparently the Heiress has been adopted again.
Well, it's nothing to worry about. She hasn't been kept around for more than sixteen months yet.
The agent report also notes that eleven boxes of harassment and three attempted mail assassinations were intercepted before they reached him.
Absurd.
He sets the letter aside and goes back to what he was doing. Nothing to be worried about.
(Or at least, so he thinks.)

I've said this before but I think a lot of us are really sleeping on the fact that the Neath would take risky kinks to the next level. You can be woundfucked to death.
