I use tumblr to post my favourite pieces, studies, and drawings I’m proud of but wouldn’t put on my portfolio.
I use Instagram to display my best work yet: @thebrokenpaintbox
I use this tumblr for everything else: @thefixedpaintbox
I use my website as an archive for almost all my artwork so far: www.thebrokenpaintbox.com
About Me
You want to read my lengthy autobiography? Really? Are you sure?
Cool! I love talking about myself.
I’m a person who loves storytelling in all its forms, whether that’s art, writing, acting, music, etc. That also means I enjoy dabbling in just about every creative hobby you can think of. Naturally, I have a hard time keeping track of everything, but that’s where sites like these come in handy! They help me document every creative thought and process so that I can remember the fun times and all the progress I’ve made. I suppose you could say I’ve made a hobby out of engaging in creative hobbies.
Hobbies
Art and Animation: I draw a lot, I don’t know if you can tell from the title of the site. My work is mostly digital, it’s just a bit more convenient that way. This is easily the hobby I’ve put the most amount of time and practice into, and I’m now looking to learn and practice 2D and 3D animation.
Writing: This has certainly been one of my favourite pastimes. It’s also one that I’ve returned to recently, and it’s been such fun. At first, I would only write reviews and analyses for media I liked (books, movies, videogames, you name it). Recently, however, I’ve decided to just go for it and start writing creatively. I have made another blog on tumblr specifically for this, which you can find here: @thelittlemisprint.
Acting: This one is a new addition to my interests. I’ve always been interested in voice acting so I can bring some of my projects to life through performance; I never picked it up out of fear of judgement though, but not anymore! Awful as my acting is right now, I’m having way too much fun to care. I have no theatre education though, so I’m kind of just researching and practicing when I can, hoping to improve bit by bit.
Music: I also have no musical education. None. I picked up the guitar for a while, but I dropped it before I could really get good at it. Perhaps I picked up the wrong instrument, or it was just the wrong time. Either way, the interest to write songs is returning, so I’m planning to learn singing for a bit if possible.
Blogs
@thefixedpaintbox is my blog for all non-art things.
I usually post samples of my work to social media, but I use my website as a sort of archive, so a lot more of my work can be found there.

An illustration vaguely inspired by the shin-hanga of Yoshida Hiroshi.
I tried my best to research what onsen are actually like for this drawing, since I’ve never been. However, I found a million little details I got wrong only after drawing this, so please take this rendition with a grain of salt!
Just realised I still haven’t posted this piece here yet — this piece was inspired by some fables, a traditional game, and a very specific illustration of Baba Yaga by an artist named Ivan Bililbin.
Someone once told me “I didn’t know you could draw in cursive” after looking at this piece. It still brings a smile to my face!
Made a different blog for everything non-art related, since this one started getting cluttered real fast. In the future, I’ll do all the reblogging and commenting from there! This one will be pretty much exclusively for art.

Sci-fi reimagining of Morgane Le Fay from Arthurian Legend! In this version, she is a cyborg rather than a fairy, and her talent for magic is instead the ability to interpret vast amounts of information.
I spent an ungodly amount of time trying to settle down on the colours.
I think I’ll try something nature-themed next. Expect lots of plants. I have three different ideas in mind right now – explorers who have stumbled upon an ancient civilisation deep in the wilderness; survivors traversing a post-apocalyptic world where nature has re-claimed everything human; some sort of clearing in a wood with fairies, except they are the original, dangerous, scary, child-stealing kind. Let’s see how this pans out, I don’t draw full scenes very often, let alone ones with dense vegetation!
A sketchbook page of teeny-tiny studies from Hollow Knight — one of my top favourite videogames of all time. Also, Ari Gibson is one of my many favourite artists.
It’s such a shame that the Andromeda galaxy will collide with the Milky Way long before Silksong is released though.
Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who imagined Martin with a slight resemblance to Tintin!
I draw in this style for sketches and rough drafts, but now I’m starting to think it looks too adorable use ONLY for that. I underestimated the power of the button eyes.
Would Jon have dots instead of proper eyes if drawn like this? Either way, I digress.

This animation took so long to make, but it was so worth it!
I’m calling this one “Sunny Side Up.” The egg-head character was meant to have a sun-face. Its current appearance was a happy accident.
I only recently started using Instagram (same username, @thebrokenpaintbox), and I now wish I’d started using it sooner. It’s so incredibly simple and easy to make a portfolio on there. The only problem is that horrid compression – the slight blurriness, colour shift, and change in aspect ratio drives me up a wall. It’s significantly worse in reels.
An absolutely ancient study page I dug out of an old sketchbook. I love the goofy faces, it’s hilarious how he alternates between serious and tragic and “IMNOTSHORT.”
After I posted a drawing of a bunch of giant CCTV cameras watching over a city, I thought, why not put my whole exhibition online? Tumblr is the site I use to post artwork that I wouldn’t quite put on my portfolio but still want to show to other people, so it’s the perfect place for it really.
Anyway, here it is! (To clarify, although I do post fanart of The Magnus Archives a lot here, all of this was before I knew much about the podcast — even though some of it seems exactly like the kind of references someone who knows about the series would make!)

Artwork of one of my oldest OCs who I didn’t draw at the time because I thought my art wasn’t “good enough” yet.
I’ve found that “good enough” is always a moving target, so I just go ahead and do things now, and that’s not just for art. I’m a much happier person for it.
Anyway, meet Sir Oragon, a Dragonborn Knight. I got the idea for him while misreading a card while playing a boardgame. It said “Dragon,” but the fancy font made the letter “D” look like “O,” and I thought to myself, huh, that would be a cool name for a knight.
