it can be tempting to live your life like a prequel. to live as if you’re setting up your own story.and once you lose the weight, once you have the money, once you graduate school, once you’re in a real relationship, once, once, once. then finally, you’ll begin to live, and everything you do up until that point is some kind of half-life, some unimportant foreword you can skip. don’t do this. inhabit your life completely. sink fully into the wealth of your existence. the power to manifest is in the fearless owning of who you are, so that you can shape where you’re going.

Barnes and Noble Leather Bound Editions are just 😍😍😍
“It’s dark because you are trying too hard. Lightly child, lightly. Learn to do everything lightly. Yes, feel lightly even though you’re feeling deeply. Just lightly let things happen and lightly cope with them. I was so preposterously serious in those days…Lightly, lightly – it’s the best advice ever given me…to throw away your baggage and go forward. There are quicksands all about you, sucking at your feet, trying to suck you down into fear and self-pity and despair. That’s why you must walk so lightly. Lightly my darling…”
— Aldous Huxley
It’s days later and I’m still awed that Korey Wise’s life was saved by a serial rapist and killer who was capable of showing more remorse for his actions than the police, prosecution and President have shown for their actions to date. Sociopaths.
I mean, how fucked are you if your life depends on the moral judgement and sympathy of a serial rapist/killer?
Like, imagine having to go out of your way to prove your guilt just so someone else could go free?
And these people, Lederer, Trump and Fairstein are still like, “Nope!” They faced no punishment, not even a slap on the wrist, and in fact used their crime against humanity to springboard their career in some cases.
Like, I know racists are shit, but I had them one notch above serial killers and serial rapists and now I have to rethink that.
Trump is a self-confessed rapist and racist and was elected president in spite, or more likely because of that. What’s the word for that?
What’s the word for a renowned rapist calling for the death penalty for innocent children being framed for rape? My brain is struggling to make peace with this movie.
Seven million is not enough for these men when their attackers are still roaming free in the largest, most institutionalised wolf pack in the country.
“If a republic be small, it is destroyed by a foreign force; if it be large, it is ruined by an internal imperfection.”

“For once, I wish to be seen, to be heard, right by your side. I wish to hide no more from this world, to shine vibrantly as our fingers intertwined. For once, just this once, I wish to look at every face that I hate, every heart that brought hurt into my life, and smile at them like maybe I love them, because I have you.”
— Lukas W. // Because I have you
“Sometimes we wish to sleep so we can forget. And sometimes, we wish to forget so we can sleep. أحيانا نتمنى ان ننام كي ننسى وأحيانا نتمنى ان ننسى كي ننام”
— Shahrazad al-Khalij
“Socrates said, “The misuse of language induces evil in the soul.” He wasn’t talking about grammar. To misuse language is to use it the way politicians and advertisers do, for profit, without taking responsibility for what the words mean. Language used as a means to get power or make money goes wrong: it lies. Language used as an end in itself, to sing a poem or tell a story, goes right, goes towards the truth. A writer is a person who cares what words mean, what they say, how they say it. Writers know words are their way towards truth and freedom, and so they use them with care, with thought, with fear, with delight. By using words well they strengthen their souls. Story-tellers and poets spend their lives learning that skill and art of using words well. And their words make the souls of their readers stronger, brighter, deeper.”
— Ursula K. Le Guin (via mesogeios)

“Trust those that you have helped to help you in their turn. Trust dreams. Trust your heart. And trust your story.”
— “Instructions” by Neil Gaiman from Fragile Things
Touch the wooden gate in the wall you never saw before. Say “please” before you open the latch, go through, walk down the path. A red metal imp hangs from the green-painted front door, as a knocker, do not touch it; it will bite your fingers. Walk through the house. Take nothing. Eat nothing. However, if any creature tells you that it hungers, feed it. If it tells you that it is dirty, clean it. If it cries to you that it hurts, if you can, ease its pain. From the back garden you will be able to see the wild wood. The deep well you walk past leads to Winter’s realm; there is another land at the bottom of it. If you turn around here, you can walk back, safely; you will lose no face. I will think no less of you. Once through the garden you will be in the wood. The trees are old. Eyes peer from the undergrowth. Beneath a twisted oak sits an old woman. She may ask for something; give it to her. She will point the way to the castle. Inside it are three princesses. Do not trust the youngest. Walk on. In the clearing beyond the castle the twelve months sit about a fire, warming their feet, exchanging tales. They may do favors for you, if you are polite. You may pick strawberries in December’s frost. Trust the wolves, but do not tell them where you are going. The river can be crossed by the ferry. The ferry- man will take you. (The answer to his question is this: If he hands the oar to his passenger, he will be free to leave the boat. Only tell him this from a safe distance.) If an eagle gives you a feather, keep it safe. Remember: that giants sleep too soundly; that witches are often betrayed by their appetites; dragons have one soft spot, somewhere, always; hearts can be well-hidden, and you betray them with your tongue. Do not be jealous of your sister. Know that diamonds and roses are as uncomfortable when they tumble from one’s lips as toads and frogs: colder, too, and sharper, and they cut. Remember your name. Do not lose hope—what you seek will be found. Trust ghosts. Trust those that you have helped to help you in their turn. Trust dreams. Trust your heart, and trust your story. When you come back, return the way you came. Favors will be returned, debts will be repaid. Do not forget your manners. Do not look back. Ride the wise eagle (you shall not fall). Ride the silver fish (you will not drown). Ride the grey wolf (hold tightly to his fur). There is a worm at the heart of the tower; that is why it will not stand. When you reach the little house, the place your journey started, you will recognize it, although it will seem much smaller than you remember. Walk up the path, and through the garden gate you never saw before but once. And then go home. Or make a home. And rest.
Neil Gaiman, “Instructions”
