But All Lives Matter
Well yes every race matters and every race has the right to live. But that's not what this is about, this is about the wrongful death of many black individuals at the hands of people who were sworn to protect us. While people like to say âmore people are killed by black on black crimesâ the reason for this is proximity. And before you say more white people are killed by police, yes that's correct but there are more white people than black people in the us.Â
I donât want to talk about statistics too much right now because truthfully itâs not my forte. What I do want to talk about is how âAll Lives Matterâ affects black lives. When we speak out on the unfair treatment of blacks in america for you to say that everyone has it hard this belittles our voice. To quote Joyner Lucas âScreaming, "All Lives Matter," is a protest to my protest, what kind of shit is that?â. We can all agree that white people can have hard lives but they have a privilege that black people will never have. This privilege is the privilege to not be judged on the color of their skin. To not get a job solely on the color of your skin. To not be followed around a store to make sure youâre not stealing. These are things people of color deal with their whole lives. When you are seen as a criminal or ghetto before you even open your mouth. No wonder people are angry you would be too. My ancestors were owned let that sink in. My family was owned by other people. You could pay to own people. The issues didnât go away when slavery was abolished, they just found a different way to own us. The mass incarceration of black Americans is astronomical. But that's a part of another topic I want to talk about and is too heavy and in depth to be a random segment of another topic post.Â
All lives do matter but right now black individuals are being lynched in the streets all across america. Imagine being pulled over for speeding and wondering if your punishment would be death for something that isnât punishable by even jail time. We are people, we have families and people who care if we make it home or not. And if after reading this you still want to say âall lives matterâ or any other racist comment you want to say do me a favor and never watch sports, never listen to music, never eat peanut butter and most importantly leave america because if whether you like it or not America was built by black Americans.
