For the stalking thing, definitely try finding friends/relatives of theirs, their pages might be more open and you can see if they've tagged the person. Older relatives tend to not have their facebook settings too heavily privatised. Also if you have their full name, make sure to google it in quotation marks ie. Don't get sucked into the "if they really cared I wouldn't have to say something" spiral. No matter how close you are with someone, it's unfair to expect them to know things you haven't actually communicated.

BUT!

If you HAVE communicated your wants/needs explicitly, and the other person acknowledges it yet makes no efforts to act on that, it IS fair to hold them to account.

There's a less common but still dangerous spiral where you may find yourself repeatedly communicating the same problem, then giving them the benefit of the doubt each time they fail to follow through.

It's impossible to know every single thing someone else is going through or thinking or feeling, but don't turn that into a "Get Out of Jail Free" card for them. Especially in close relationships, you are allowed to be an imposition now and then. You deserve to be a priority in someone else's life if you both care about each other.
