Wednesday 100: In Community
When Bree thinks of Mama inviting people to the Boston house, her brain phrases it a certain way: Mama's colleagues. Their wives. Uncle Joe might have been her best friend, but even Aunt Gail didn't drop by on her own to eat cake and gossip, or invite Mama for coffee, just them.
So it's strange to stand in the surgery and watch Marsali and Rachel and Lizzie and Elspeth Cunningham all arrive throughout the morning: talking, commiserating, laughing, asking advice and sharing their own, the sounds of women's voices overlapping.
Strange, she thinks, watching Mandy play amidst them, and wonderful.
