The crisp mountain air of Malaybalay was soon replaced by the humid, salty breeze of the coast as we began our descent toward Misamis Oriental. I felt a wave of excitement and relief—marking the start of a trip where we swapped city noise for the soothing sound of the tide.
We arrived at Secret Paradise just as night was settling in. The resort was glowing with hanging warm lights that made the whole place feel magical and cozy. We didn't just see a resort; we felt an immediate sense of peace.
Day 1: Saltwater & Sandy Smiles
Our first full day was dedicated to the sea. We spent hours enjoying the water and lounging in the cottage area, shaded by towering palm trees.
My favorite part was doing activities with my family on the shore. We even buried my uncle in the sand—talk about a natural (and very heavy) blanket!
Traveler’s Tip: Balingasag is known for its rich fishing heritage, so keep an eye out for local boats. Also, the “Secret Paradise” sand is perfect for beach games!
The Final Stretch: Mangroves and Mysteries
On our last day, we traveled to Laguindingan to explore the Tubajon Aquamarine Park. This place is a maze of lush mangroves that look like they belong in a fantasy world.
Activities: We enjoyed swimming in the calm, brackish water and took turns riding the boat through the narrow green tunnels. It was surprisingly fun and a great workout for the arms!
Quick Stop: Before heading back, we stopped by Mauswagon Cave. The rugged rock formations were a sharp contrast to the soft beach we left behind, offering a cool, mysterious end to our journey.
Ending our trip at around 5:00 PM, I looked back at the photos and realized that the best part of traveling isn't just the “destination”—it's the laughter and shared experiences with the people you love. Misamis Oriental, you were a breath of fresh air! 🌊✨
