Steins;gate 0

Origin: Sequel

Studio: White Fox

Genre: Sci-fi, Thriller, Drama

Premise: Sequel to the iconic 2011 time traveling sci-fi epic Steins;gate, “Steins;gate 0” takes place in an alternate timeline where one of the main characters didn’t survive. Looks to have a darker edge than the original and includes some new characters. 

Prediction: Fans of the original will be thrilled to see the series coming back. Those who haven’t seen the original should do so with all haste. This is a clear must watch. Must watch.

The Disney*Pixar Championship Bracket

Recently, there has been hot debate over which film would win it all in a Disney*Pixar bracket. On Twitter especially, people have been arguing energetically over who has the best bracket.

Over the next several days, Animation Force hopes to put the debate to rest with our own competition that you can participate in on Twitter (@ Animation_Force).

The series will culminate in a Disney*Pixar Final Four.

Popular animated show Bob’s Burgers will have a feature film with Fox Animation by July 17, 2020, according to The Hollywood Reporter. 

The Emmy-winning original series has aired on Fox television since 2011 and chronicles the wacky but lovable Belcher family: burger restaurateurs Bob and Linda and their three children: Tina, Gene and Louise.

“A Bob’s Burgers film fits perfectly with our initiative to redouble our family and animation efforts,” said Stacy Snider, CEO of 20th Century Fox Film. 

Show creator Loren Bouchard — who will be collaborating on the project while continuing to work on the television series — discussed some of the challenges the film adaptation will face to reach success like the show has.

“We know the movie has to scratch every itch the fans of the show have ever had, but it also has to work for all the good people who’ve never seen the show,” said Bouchard. “We also know it has to fill every inch of the screen with the colors and the sounds and the ever-so-slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob’s — but most of all it has to take our characters on an epic adventure. In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?!”

Bob’s Burgers will join The Simpsons [The Simpsons Movie] on the short list of Fox animated series-to-film crossovers, alongside Batman: The Animated Series [Mask of the Phantasm]. Fellow Fox shows Futurama and Family Guy received direct-to-video treatments only. 

Sonic the Hedgehog rushes to the big screen

Perhaps in light of the recent success of Sonic Mania, or perhaps merely in desperation after years of trying to make the film, a Sonic the Hedgehog movie is in the works at Paramount, according to Hollywood Reporter.

Previously, Sony Entertainment held rights to the feature adaptation, but once the studio put the project into turnaround, Paramount snatched it up.

The live-action/animation hybrid already has a team attached, with Deadpool director Tim Miller executive producing with Toby Ascher, while Jeff Fowler is set to make a directorial debut with this feature, following a rodent-centric short film, Gopher Broke, in 2005.

SNL Announces Tom Hanks’ Animated Return in The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special

Reprising the live-action gag from last October, Hanks and his two skelton sidekicks will appear in animation this Halloween thanks to NBC and animation studio Bento Box Entertainment. 

Variety reports the synopsis as: 

Set in a small suburban town on All Hallows’ Eve, the special centers on Pumpkins and his skeleton sidekicks as they show a young boy and his sister the true meaning of Halloween, answering none of their questions along the way.

Joining Hanks will be his skeleton crew Mikey Day and Bobby Moynihan (whose most recent voice-over credits include Louie in Disney XD’s DuckTales), plus Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage. 

This animated special will air during Saturday Night Live on Saturday, October 28 (11:30 p.m. ET/PT, NBC).
