So I talked to @eventide-paradox and they gave me permission to tell you all about Sir Valiant's Weapon he brings from the past, The shield breaking axe, Excavar!
Excavar is an ancient weapon that was produced for the warrior Lumians. The axes of a type of energy that can cut through almost any material on the blade. The amount of energy used is determined by the strength of the user's grip. It can cut through a war ship's hull with a single slash when at full power and it can act like a normal axe when no power is applied.
It was slowly rendered obsolete after the eradication of the warriors in the Lumian race and introduction of blasters. Most of these weapons were turned into non-functional museum relics or spare parts. Only one left is Sir Valiant's, whose shell can easily repel small arms fire. This includes military pistol blasters and machine gun fire.
So how did the Valiants react to William Valiant going delusioned?
Well to keep things short, the Valiant family went a bit crazy. Sir Valiant's and Hoodie's father, Castile Valiant the 2nd went literally insane. He had spent a fortune on his golden boy, just to see it go up in smoke in a day. It was so bad that when Hoodie found his family's home, he found his father surrounded by destroyed furniture, both laughing and clucking like a chicken. It was so bad that he had to ask Gavin (from @diggitydoggo ) Connie and Soulvester to get him to the nut house safely.
Mrs Marie Valiant was a different story. She expected this to happen after Hoodie left. She realized she was too much of a helicopter parent and had turned Valiant into a lost cause. So she just disappeared when her husband lost everything. She divorced him without taking anything.
Oh how the mighty have fallen.

So what do you mean Hoodie would have the hardest time with a language barrier?
It's actually because he speaks an entirely different and more complex language than modern ones. You see, Hoodie is a High Lumian, they live on the more habitable part of the planet since they don't have a shell like Sir Valiant. The language they spoke has over 80k words and most can't even be pronounced now. The fact that his language is obsolete is a massive blow to him.
In contrast Sir Valiant is a lower Lumian, the shell weighs them down so they can't float without using a lot of energy. They lived on the hard-to-live part of the planet to train their shells in case of attack. They spoke a language that sounds a lot like English (ex. Oup means up) but it died off after the invasion and most of the warrior Lumians were wiped out.
In fact this only makes it easier for Sir Valiant to communicate with others.

So, I think the cryogenic freezing thing would work for a bit, Hoodie and Sir Valiant being in stasis before the crew of the gardenview found the pods. They load them onto the ship unaware that they cut the power to the pods and they unfreeze. They unintentionally cause some problems from culture shock (Mostly Sir Valiant); like entering others room without knocking. And some confusion from a language barrier (hoodie). Vespa was also there too but gets used to everything pretty quickly.
In this au, I was thinking that Sir Valiant and Hoodie should be Connie's and Soulvester's ancestors who are from an old nation from thousands of years ago. Sir Valiant would have something like a hard shell, making him a great warrior. Hoodie has a more human-like appearance, but both have legs. Both went into stasis because of an unknown threat that was destroying their home. But sir Valiant wanted a hero's death so he was forced.

Nodding! Makes sense to me.. so, we actually have some lore for Connie and Soulvester’s species figured out- they’re based on sea angels, you can check out Doggo’s posts on Stars Align!Gavin for a better idea on what they look like.
These two both having legs by default rather than needing to form them is likely part of them being an older variant of this species, and Sir Valiant’s shell would likely come from him having the same condition Soulvester does (I don’t think I’ve posted about it, but basically, his membrane is extremely thick, which lets him tank hits that would kill any other member of their species at the cost of his flexibility and ability to float).
As for Vespa, she’d likely be an Ironian/Shinetopian? Not sure how she’d come into things, but we can definitely figure something out!
I honestly like to think the shell is actually Genetics. You see, my idea of the shell is that at most 50 percent of the male population of, what I like to call Lumians, used to have this shell and are called warrior Lumians. Well it's actually due to an event that happened the first time she changed into the White Hare.
She had just rampaged through some old buildings testing her hammer. When she stopped she went into a slightly newer building to change back. But she didn't realize the building was unstable and it collapsed. She was mostly fine, but pinned down in such a way she couldn't move.
She instinctively called out for help and Gourdy heard her, and found her. Now he either changed forms or ran to get adults. She doesn't remember because at one point she passed out from some bump on the head. But when she came too, Gourdy was holding her like a princess as he helped get her into the ambulance.
That's how she developed a crush on him.
