No More Safety Net

Caitlyn couldn’t help but laugh softly at that, giving him a soft smile. “Many of us are afraid to show our marks, so we hide them with glamours.” Looking over at him, she smiled. “You aren’t wrong there. I mean, one of the warlocks that I know is almost 800 years old, some are even older than that and are still kicking. It is rough, having to see the people you love die and you are still here, having to pick up the pieces. It’s why sometimes it’s hard to be friends with mortals.”

“What’s your mark?  If you don’t mind my asking?”  Peter smiled, hoping he wasn’t being annoying with the amount of questions he had but there was so much to learn and be curious about here.  “Dang, that would suck.  But hey, we’re inevitably going to die, and our lives are better or more interesting with immortal magic people in them, so there’s pro-s to this as well.  If you avoid mortals you guys would likely be lonely?  Unless there’s a lot of warlocks and such in which case I guess that works out.”

“So do I.” Peter chuckled. “Aren’t we a pair?”

“Seems we are.”  He smiled at the other boy before giving a slight wave. “Well, hi, I’m Peter.  I promise I’ll keep walking and stop talking at you at some point.”

“Yes, we do. We also have different warlock marks and features.” She told him before nodding. “You are still so young.”

“Damn I’m jealous.  I’ve got nothing but being weird and normal.”  Peter laughed a bit before shrugging. “To someone like you I’d likely still be like a baby when I’m 80.  Immortal huh.  Must be both awesome and rough sometimes.”

“Hell, too many people right now it feels like.” Valentine replied. “It’s just-it’s a phrase, mainly saying I’m tired of people trying to out-shine me.”

“Ah, that sucks.  But uh, good luck with that I guess?  How are they trying to outshine you?”

“I can understand that. I really wish I could go back to wherever Ash is.”

“Your friend or family not hear yet either?”

“You’re good.” Peter said. “Guess I’m not as good of a listener than I was as a kid.”

“Nah, it’s not you’re fault.  I ramble when I’m tired.”

“Sex superman huh?”  Peter laughed a little, blushing just a bit before cocking his head. “You okay?”

“it’s been so long since i’ve actually been to be myself, i don’t even know what being myself is like.” the wizard said honestly.
