💎 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Stick of Shaking Wand, common ___ This stick resembles a crooked, wooden finger. As a result, it’s earned the colloquial nickname of a “hag’s finger.” You can use an action while holding this stick to shake it at up to five visible targets that you can see within 60 feet of you. When you do, those targets become outlined with an illusory glow until the end of the turn, making them immediately discernible; this glow is only visible to you and other creatures of your choice that are within 10 feet of you.

Weapons. Trained, tested, forged in steel and fire. Failure is an inevitability that ends in death. Pain should not be felt--it should be recognized, familiar, and inconsequential
Martyrs. In the form of servants and princes, of leaders and underdogs. If blood is necessary, the martyr will lift their hands and offer it all
Shields. Like tempering a sword, but only to bear and not to lash out. Wounds are medals--not symbols of pride, but symbols of worth. A pretty shield is useless; scars mean a job well done
Experiments. Raised on the cold comfort of a lab table. Restraints are only necessary when they're not in their right mind. Is it honorable, to be twisted beyond recognition? Or is it just a necessary evil?
Monsters. Cruelty, caution, and regarding one as a creature beyond reasonable thought is tempering in its own right. But if you keep a leash at the right length, perhaps the massecre won't reach you. One can hope.
Idols. Pretty face, pretty name, pretty hands around their shoulders and throat. There to seduce, manipulate, force any feeling to come to the surface and twist it to their favor. Any genuinity stays locked behind the guilded cage that surrounds their pretty little heart
Trophies. Status and wealth and the traditions that keep someone at their heels, on their knees, to display and serve and decorate one's ballroom.
Sacrifices. Drenched in honorable clothes, prepared and adored and cleansed. The gift of hope at the cost of one's life. Is it taken with no fight? How can you escape the ropes you were born in?
And apologies to everyone who fell for the Zendikar mention. I’m so Magic pilled and had specific planes in mind for several of the cards that I didn’t even realize how much of a sneaky red herring it would be to put real Magic words on a fake answer
And now for fun below the cut, some “headcanons” about the fake cards I’ve had since and while making them
Ativan, Knight of the Old Way is definitely giving Eldraine, though I could also see a Cathar from Innistrad. Some kind of mono white big boy for big mana with a stupid long effect.
Biktarvy, Sailor of the Deep (sorry Biktarvy) is obviously a pirate. Blue, as pirates are. Though can’t decide if he’s a traditional sea-faring Ixalan pirate or one of them sky pirates from.. whatever plane they’re from. I think they’re on multiple. Avishkar maybe?
Mounjaro, Titan Awoken is some beefy gigantic elemental creature, maybe with some land-based ability. Green obviously and maybe red or blue? Something like Jyoti, Moag Ancient.
Brilinta, Sun’s Radiance (I can’t spell for shit apparently) is definitely giving Angel but I don’t know beyond that.
Nurtec, Warden of the Cave is absolutely Ixalan in my mind. I don’t know what but I can picture the dingy seaside cave with the secret little bay in it for the card art. That baby’s from Ixalan for SURE.
Entresto, Street Mage is definitely from New Capenna. Giving Obscura maybe? If not in full color identity at least in faction. Absolutely out here swindling the city folk out of their coin with slight of hand (and perhaps some real magic on the sly, either assisting in the trick or picking pockets while the audience is distracted). Wizard creature type for sure.
Rybelsus, the Defiant is I’ll be honest just the rebel token to me. Definitely giving Mirrodin.
Tepezza, High-Flyer is absolutely a Performer creature type to me. Full acrobat. She’s giving New Capenna or Unfinity’s Astrotorium. Flying keyword obvi.
Farxiga, Ruin of Zendikar is well. Obviously in Zendikar. She’s giving green. People mentioned she would be a good Phyrexian and honestly she’s giving just. Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus.
Zepbound, Steadfast Companion is giving a dog with Partner. Something like Pako, Arcane Retriever or Chakram Retriever. I dunno if it’s just from those two cards but he’s giving Simic (UG) to me.
And finally
Lyrica, Muse of the Heavens, obviously an angel. Where’s she from? Idk angels are from everywhere in magic. Maybe Theros?
So many people in the reblogs and replies also said they misread it as “Pantlaza, Sun-Flavored” and I can totally see a cereal box secret lair style version of Pantlaza for that.
If anyone makes MTG proxies or custom cards, I’d love to see any of these if you decide to make them! Absolutely tag me and I’ll show them off!

The Amberleaf is a woodland twist on the classic pseudodragon, a timid little autumn spirit that relies on its camouflage, subtle druidic magic, and soporific spores to stay safe. They awaken when the air cools, glide through orchards and forests, and then slip into deep rest once spring returns. Due to this cycle, they make unusual companions. Their seasonal bond makes them especially well-suited to nature-oriented characters, such as druids, rangers, or nature clerics.

Follow me on my other socials for more free D&D 5e homebrew content:
I love it when folks who are used to designing D&D dungeons try to map out an above-ground adventure location, but it still has maze-of-twisty-underground-passages vibes, like the second floor is inexplicably larger than the first, and there are all these weird gaps between rooms that make total sense when a map is supposed to represent tunnels bashed into rock but raise worrying questions when it's, like, a house.
"And this was once Sir Gerald's manor."
"Where's the bathroom?"
"There's six of them and they're all down this one corridor that you can only access through the master bedroom. Also, mind the scything blades trap. "
Whisper it, but this might be the number one most useful and important post on this whole damn blog. I reckon a solid majority of DMs use the tables in the DMG to generate random loot drops, which means that I can write homebrew magic items until the cows come home, but most players will never see them, because they're not on the tables that DMs are rolling on.
Now that this blog is coming to a close, I think it's the perfect time to release these loot tables and look back on some of the classics. o7, Replacement Man, your service was appreciated!
See here for the above-mentioned alphabetical index of all my magic items!
This post is featuring the artistic talents of Lucas Ferreira CM, Lucy Lin, Sirin and Anastasia Pionkovskaya. Much love to all the artists!
💎 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Infernal Chess Set Wondrous item, legendary ___ This obsidian chess set can fold in half for storage and weighs 10 pounds. The sides are stepped, as if the board were centered in an arena. A tiefling or fiend using this chess set gains a +5 bonus to ability checks made with it. You can use an action while touching the chess set to speak its command word. When you do, you magically shunt two creatures that you can see within 30 feet of you into a special demiplane within the chess set. A creature with an Intelligence score of 5 or lower is immune to this effect. The creatures are forced to play a life-sized version of chess in an arena within the demiplane; each one plays as the living King piece for either side. The arena’s stands are filled with jeering, hellish creatures. For the duration, at the start of each of your turns, both creatures make a contested Intelligence check using the chess set. When a creature succeeds on the check for the second time, both creatures are expelled from the demiplane and reappear in the spaces they left (or the nearest unoccupied ones), and the creature that failed the contested check for a second time takes 10d10 psychic damage. Once this property of the chess set has been used, it can’t be used again until the next dawn.

“Painted whores! Sexual gladiators! Fiercely old party children! Wake from their slumber to debut the bacchanal! Come into the light! Come into the light!”
